Hello Hive People!
Today is the most special and famous festival of Bikaner, Rajasthan and that's Gangaur. This is the most awaited and auspicious festival which was celebrated since ancient times when kings ruled here.
This is mostly famous in Rajasthan. This is a great significance of bond of married couples. But this celebration can be done by married as well as unmarried also can take part in the festivities in full enthusiasm. People make clay and wood images of God and Goddess , dress them beautifully, offer prayers to them, observe day-long fast for marital happiness and prepare delightful dishes for the family. Shiva Ji and Parvati Maa in this festival are known as Gavar and Izhar.
We purchased the idols from the market and invited them in our house. We dressed them beautifully which includes Lengha Choli, bangles, traditional borla with head band, waist band, bindi, earrings, necklace, nose ring and lastly a dupatta. All these were Gavar Maa's makeup stuff.
Ishar ji's stuffs include kurta, dhoti, neckpiece, earrings, bracelets and turban.
Gangaur is the festival of love, devotion, and marital bliss among couples, is celebrated with zeal and enthusiasm by the womenfolk of Rajasthan. The name Gangaur is derived from the words Gana meaning Lord Shiva and Gaur meaning Goddess Parvati.
On this special and auspicious occasion special food is also made which dhokles, churma and many more.
I don't know much about the food😅 but this tastes very awesome😙. As everything suits in proper occasion and time similarly this food suits this occasion and also this food is a part of the occasion😋. It is said in ancient times that, Gavar goes to her Mayka or her marital home for about 10-12 days and Ishar Ji comes to take Gavar Maa back to her In Laws house or Sasural. When Ishar Ji arrived at Gavar Maa's marital house, he was served dhokla and churmas and since then this custom has been going on😃.
That was it for today. Hope you all like it😊
