Hello Hive friends, may God always bless us all. I am so happy to be able to share posts again in our beloved GEMS community.

In this post, I want to share about our journey to escape the isolated area. At that time, even though it was already three weeks after the natural disaster that struck our area, several highway accesses were still cut off.

We were located in a rural area. One day before the flood and landslide, we went to my in-laws' house, which is located in a rural area. This village is about an hour's drive from the city center.

We stayed overnight in the village, and in the morning, we received news that the road back to the city was flooded, buried by landslides, and some roads were completely cut off. That day suddenly turned into a terrifying one: power outages, internet outages, and natural disasters were everywhere, almost everywhere in Aceh.

We were forced to live through days filled with anxiety and panic as food supplies began to run low. Everyone began to panic, buying and hoarding large amounts of food from stores, so that supplies began to dwindle and become scarce.

184677.jpg

We tried to survive in the village, living through dark days and nights, aimless, trapped, isolated, and it was truly confusing. Our focus at that time was finding rice as a staple food for survival. With the remaining rice, we tried to survive, eating what was available. Luckily, we had vegetables and bananas in our garden.

The days grew increasingly tense. Fuel became scarce, the village became deserted, and the only way to get out to the shopping center was by walking. That day was truly draining on energy, thought, and sanity. Even getting information from outside was extremely difficult due to the loss of cellular service. Even our cell phones were completely useless that day.

That day, we also lost contact and communication with our relatives outside the city. We were completely trapped in the middle of the forest, flanked by hills. If we remained where we were, a long period of starvation would ensue.

Bitter days passed. Slowly, the road was opened through mutual cooperation. People, already starving, cleared the road and walked out of town in search of food. We were truly trapped in the middle of the forest, flanked by hills. If we remained where we were, a long period of starvation would ensue.

The only way out at that time was to leave the village on foot and search for food outside the city. This journey took up to three days and was extremely tiring. Days passed, and government aid only arrived after two weeks. They deployed heavy equipment and helicopters to reach isolated villages and open road access.

This natural disaster has taught us valuable lessons about how to strengthen each other, work together, and find solutions to survive during times of natural disaster. It also teaches us the importance of food security, having and stocking up on sufficient food supplies in advance, enough to last for one to two months. Disasters and everything that happens are experiences and lessons for the future.

Halo sahabat Hive, semoga tuhan selalu memberkati kita semuanya.
