My thoughts on Yesterday’s Epl Games

There was a lot of drama in England yesterday as 4 fixtures from game week 3 were played. Several goals were scored and VAR took center stage once more. Here are my thoughts from the already played fixtures.

Manchester United Very Lucky In Win

To even say Manchester United was lucky against Brighton is an understatement. Brighton hit the woodwork five times, had a second penalty overturned by VAR and then conceded a penalty after the referee, Chris Kavanagh had officially ended the game. They were carved apart several times by a Brighton side who outplayed United all game. They should look back at this game and be disappointed despite getting the 3 points.

The performances from Manchester United have lethargic and need to improve if they are to achieve their ambitions this season. Should they continue to play like this, then i believe their luck may run out soon.

Lampard To Blame For Chelsea Woes

img_1862.png

This might sound harsh and this sounds a bit rushes as it is early in the season but Lampard should take all the blame for Chelsea’s performances so far.

I know injuries to key players like Ziyech, Chillwell and Pulisic have played its part to the rough start. I know the players didnt have enough time to train and play together. However, Lampard needs to take blame because of certain decisions he has made so far.
To start with the decision to play Mount and Kai Havetz on the wings have proved futile but Lampard keeps tryin that out and hopes to get results. Yesterday’s game of 2 contrasting further proves my point. Chelsea started the game with Mount on the right and Werner on the left. That didnt work and they only scored in the second half after Odoi replaced Kovacic which then allowed Mount to move centrally.

Lampard as a manager should also fix his defensive organization or risk conceding more goals this season. Yes, there were individual errors leading to all three goals but the gap between the midfield and the defense once Chelsea is on the ball leaves so much space for opponents to exploit and that happened yesterday in the first half.

There is signs of improvement however as the Chelsea team of last season would not have recovered after been down by three goals. They also created a lot of chances which seems to suggest they on the right track offensively. Fixing the defense should be a priority or he risks heading out of the door early.

DLC And Everton Make it 3 from 3

Dominic Calvert-Lewin got his 5th goal of the season as Everton won their third game of the season to move to the top of the league. It’s early in the season but they were once again the more attractive and the more prolific side. They continue to show solidity at the back as Palace tried to get back in the game. The signs are great for the toffees as their new signings continue to perform for them.
