The development of positive self-esteem is quite a difficult process, as we saw in my last update, developing each of the pillars requires the commitment of both time and effort. But I think that the struggle is well worth the effort and time.
It is quite unfortunate that too many of us in modern society go about life judging ourselves based on the opinions of others, which over time leads to the development of a dependant personality, where all we can do best is pleasing and impressing others.

But that is not a successful life, for such a life requires that we live and make choices based on our own internal values and our own individuality, which requires the development of our self-esteem, in order for us to have confidence in who we really are, even amidst the disapproval from others.
I think that it is crucial that we learn to see ourselves in a more realistic and more empowering light as the ultimate judges of our own lives, and therefore the sole individuals we must always strive to impress unconditionally. We stand in the midst of an almost infinite network of relationships: to other people, to things, to the universe. And yet, at three o’clock in the morning, when we are alone with ourselves, we are aware that the most intimate and powerful of all relationships and the one we can never escape is the relationship to ourselves. No significant aspect of our thinking, motivation, feelings, or behavior is unaffected by our self-evaluation. We are organisms who are not only conscious but self-conscious. That is our glory and, at times, our burden.

The three updates are dedicated to all those who are struggling with self-esteem, myself included.
The journey will be tough, there will be days where giving up will seem more like the best option, but the end results I think are worth striving for, despite the downs one is going to go through.
