Greetings friends, today I want to share with you one of my sculptures made with recycled material, as part of my plastic work that I have been developing for a few years. In this way, the purpose of developing this type of proposal is to work with various materials that we usually find in public spaces, linking the work with the everyday life of the urban. So, my intention is to use these materials as a support to transform a two-dimensional figure of graffiti that we commonly see on the walls, and then transform it into a three-dimensional form and that this space intervenes.
Saludos amigas y amigos, el día de hoy quiero compartir con ustedes una de mis esculturas realizadas con material de reciclaje, como parte de mi trabajo plástico que he venido desarrollando desde hace unos años. De esa manera, el propósito de elaborar este tipo de propuestas, es trabajar con diversos materiales que habitualmente encontramos en los espacios públicos, vinculando a la obra con la cotidianidad de lo urbano. Así pues, mi intención es utilizar esos materiales como soporte para transformar una figura bidimensional del graffiti que comúnmente vemos en las paredes, para luego convertirla en una forma tridimensional y que esta intervenga dicho espacio.
On the other hand, in that incursion of working with three-dimensional forms, I made the sculptural proposal, elaborating two pieces of corrugated cardboard, which I placed in the central patio of the university dean of humanities and arts at UCLA. In this way, this composition represents a visual game for the viewer since the pieces interact with a wall which divides them, but which provides dynamism due to their arrangement in space. In this way, the first piece that is in the upper part has a measurement of 100 cm high by 80 cm wide with a volume of 45 centimeters, the other sculpture has 90 cm high by 129 cm wide and a volume of 26 cm, it is cursive and inclined and is observed in a decreasing way, it has formal features of "Wild Style Graffiti" thus representing an arrow.
Por su parte, en ese incursionar de trabajar con formas tridimensionales, realicé la propuesta escultórica, elaborando dos piezas de cartón corrugado, que ubiqué en el patio central del decanato universitario de humanidades y artes de la UCLA. De esa manera, esta composición representa un juego visual para el espectador ya que las piezas interactúan con un muro el cual las divide, pero que proporciona dinamismo por su disposición en el espacio. De esa manera, la primera pieza que está en la parte superior posee una medida de 100 cm de alto por 80 cm de ancho con un volumen de 45 centímetros, la otra escultura posee 90 cm de alto por 129cm de ancho y un volumen de 26 cm, es de forma cursiva e inclinada y se observa de manera decreciente, tiene rasgos formales del “Wild Style Graffiti” representando así una flecha.
In this way, the surface of the sculpture is wavy, a product of the micro corrugated cardboard that I used as a support, which covers the entire structure. Likewise, the color that I applied is yellow as it helps to highlight the piece and it is a tone that is commonly used in the city to attract the attention of something.
De esa forma, la superficie de la escultura es ondulada producto del cartón micro corrugado que utilicé como soporte, que cubre toda la estructura. Así mismo, el color que apliqué es amarillo ya que ayuda a resaltar la pieza y es un tono que comúnmente se utiliza en la ciudad para llamar la atención de algo.
