This lad committed suicide after been labelled a rapist for a supposed 'non-physical assault'(I don't know what that means). The said accuser who goes by the twitter handle @nanichianese took to her timeline to tweet that the supposed party had engaged in the non-physical sexual assault of an anonymous victim and proceeded to add his name on a list dedicated for rapists.
The said lady without any legal backing has been compiling a list of supposed sexual offenders (well it's social media and everyone has a voice and can do whatever they want to do).
After several attempts to clear his name which the accuser failed to acknowledge, the lad took his life.
Here was her responsive earlier today:
My personal opinion:
I think she deserves to be locked up for a very long time, so she can reflect and heal.
Prior to this incident, if you had tried to engage this said lady in an objective conversation regarding her actions she would have tagged you a misogynist or enablers of the rape culture. Now she has blood on her hands. For someone without any authorisation or expertise, engaging in such an act is very nefarious and social media has armed many faux experts with a platform and mob to perpetrate such evil. I honestly have no sympathy for her.
I believe in free speech and I also believe in being responsible for your words which also means facing the consequence of your actions or words. Freedom without responsibility is a myth or a luxury many hope to have but will never be a reality. Freedom in itself isn't absolute. So yes, I believe Nani should be locked up for a long time and unlike her, I don't deem it to be my responsible or is it in my place to determine her fate, there are institutions for that--that's the essence of law and order.
Rape and sexual assault are too important for random people to determine who is innocent or not, especially when there is no proof to back the accusation. it is grossly naive to take the word of people just because you've been in a similar situation. You don't even understand your own bias in situations like this, that is why there are agencies for things like this.
I am really saddened by this issue. it reminds me of all our prejudice towards people based on the colour of their skin, gender, tribe, or personal experience rather than facts. Every day I have more reasons to give up on humanity. We can do better. We should stop pandering for twitter/social-media points. Do better.
Rest in Peace Izu. I do not know you but your life mattered and you shouldn't have gone this way. The society we live in has failed. I honestly hope you are in a better place.
That's really sad to hear.
Justice have to be served. REST IN PEACE bro.
I feel what you saying sir. Character assassination shouldn't be encouraged and she did just that, assassinate his character. However, in this fight of life I do not think it wise to to fight our obstacles with the same fire power with we're opposed with. Fight fire with ice and water with earth. In other words when you're hot I should be cold and in some conditions when I find you too cold I can quicken with some temper.
Nani played her part in life using the tools with which she could muster irresponsibility which she thought she could dole out to her gullible fan base probably well populated by fingers readily attacking what they perceive as threat to feminism.
My point being, the victim could have tendered complains to the right authorities to take legal actions that would clear his name. We are in a country where one can be arrested for the most trivial of reasons.
The only thing Nani did was call him out as a person that he said he was not, he could have called he'd out as well to clear his name. Remember it is social media, it has its good and its bad. Many have been tagged with the same allegations as was done him even one of the most celebrated footballer in the present world of football yet they are alive
Two wrongs don't make a right she did wrong maybe, but now he's no more to defend himself. He's character remains assassinated.
firstly, not everyone is emotionally stable. Secondly, you have not right calling anyone without proof. thirdly for a supposed non-physical assault as she claims (not my words), what has his name got to do on a list for rapist which she has no authorisation to create. She is an adult. The family f the deceased should seek legal actions against her. A life was lost. This isn't something you sweep under the carpet.
Your reply though makes me feel bad as though I'm in support of Nani. She was wrong yes now you mention the family of the deceased taking legal actions, something the deceased would have done and that step MIGHT have also commanded him the backings of SOME of the same social media where his character was assassinated.
Unless if like you just pointed out he was emotionally unstable and this was his way out which COULD also mean, he MIGHT have attempted this act unsuccessfully many times before and she just handed him a reason.
She was wrong and yes the family should take legal actions but don't forget also SUICIDE is a crime too punishable in our law courts.
i think this is where our legislators failed because I don't understand how you can prosecute a dead person. If want to die and I am successful, the last thing I would be worried about is breaking the law.
i never implied that. I don't agree with your opinion doesn't mean it's wrong--there are no right or wrongs here.
cancel culture is a thing and it has both virtual and real-life implications that you can't even begin to fathom, and chasing legal actions will do little to redeem your image. mate don't even pray to be in such a situation. You might clear your name legally but it is a stigma that lives with you forever. Few popular figures have handled issues of false accusation well. Johnny Depp is a popular figure who almost got ruined because of this, for months it was his words against his partner and hers held more weight because the average person thinks one cannot make false sexual assault allegations. He was lucky to have proof.
I rest.
Let's allow the dead rest in peace.
E no suppose be Izu na 😥😪. And this guy was my senior back then is secondary school oo.
May his soul rest in peace
