Fundación

El 6 de diciembre 1636 el gobernador de la provincia de la nueva Andalucía (Cumaná) Benito Arias Montaño capítulo a Juan Rengel de Zerpa para la fundación de la ciudad de cumanácoa y el 18 de febrero de 1643 es fundada la colonia que se le dio el nombre de Santa María de cumanacoa hasta el siglo 18 que quedó solo como como Cumanacoa

Sus primeros habitantes, los indios Coacas, eran descritos como personas pacíficas y dóciles.

Cumanacoa es considerado multicultural por el espíritu festivo de su gente que la impulsa a realizar diversas actividades recreativas, como son las gincanas de carro, la fiesta de reyes, los coleos desde 1975 y los fuegos artificiales en honor a su santo patrono: San Baltazar de los Arias

The Montes district

Entre las tradiciones culinarias está el sancocho de pescado guaraguara, que se realiza a las orillas del río, a leña, y participa toda la familia y es motivo para festejar.

Existen otras delicias culinarias como las arepas de maíz pilado, el cochino frito y el pescado frito.

Las poblaciones del distrito se caracterizan por su clima agradable mente frío ,ríos caudalosos y de agua dulce.

Culinary customs

Sitios turísticos

Siguiendo la ruta de la montaña encontramos el balneario más importante del municipio:

Balneario los dos ríos.
Su nombre se debe a qué es alimentado por dos ríos que bajan de la montaña y desembocan en el río manzanares.

Cascada de agua blanca
Es un salto de agua que cae de unas montañas compuesto de piedra caliza, y con el constante chocar con las rocas, el agua se ve muy blanca por eso según los lugareños fue que le dieron ese nombre. Se encuentra ubicado a 7 kilómetros subiendo del lado izquierdo de los dos ríos.

"White Waterfall*

Las trincheras que son agradable manantial de agua dulce para recibir a sus visitantes. Un sitio que nos relata la historia de la época colonial en cumanacoa.

Hacienda La rinconada
Es una finca que en el pasado era productora de caña de azúcar, papelón, y almacenaba el café traído de todo el territorio montesino.
En esta hacienda lujosa para la época colonial vivió el científico y visionario del siglo 19 Luis Daniel Beauperhuy, quien descubriera el vector de la fiebre amarilla en Venezuela. Actualmente es administrada por Luis Erasto Beauperhuy, digno descendiente de esta dinastía.

Este territorio es una tierra musical por excelencia. Ya partieron; fueron aroma en el río Manzanares y pasaron a otra dimensión, y estoy segura que desde allá siguen cantándole y haciéndole poesía a su amada.

Otrod que están cumpliendo su tarea y permanecen con la lámpara del arte encendida alegrando y compartiendo con su hermosa cumanacoa son Hilario Coba hijo, Ángel Luis Agreda, Gregorio Cova, Germán Caraballo, Marden Alcalá, Luis Felipe Agreda Willy Tango, y muchos más que alegran mi terruño.

Cumanacoa is the cradle of poets and singers

This territory is a musical land for excellence; its poets children and eternally in love with its mountains and its landscapes have dedicated songs and poetry, among them the teachers Luis Alfonso "Luis la panza" Sánchez, Hilario cova (Pai), Rafael Agreda, and the popular "lampwick".

Cumanacoa es la eterna primavera

Siempre verde con olor a Río cristalino, donde río manzanares recorre y se enamora de sus parajes y es testigo de la inocencia de la niñez que ríe a carcajadas bañándose en sus aguas, de los primeros amores de la juventud que los mira y se lleva se llena de gozo con una sonrisa romántica y los lleva en su corazón que se agranda cuando estos amores cristalizan; y los que no, bueno, los que no también hacen sonreír porque dejaron la hermosa huella del primer amor. También ha llevado entre sus aguas flores que perfuman y que dejan nostalgia, porque son flores de despedidas; nuestros hermanos y familiares que han partido y se van con la corriente tranquila del río Manzanares a la presencia de mi amado padre, y nos dejan la nostalgia de su ausencia y los bellos recuerdos de lo vivido, lo recorrido y lo amado.

Sus tierras son fértiles como la esperanza misma de ver a sus hijos volver y abrazarlos con su aroma a caña de azúcar, de regalarles un amanecer lleno de neblina y un café recién colado. Y a la descendencia nueva que llega a conocerla los recibe y las lágrimas de la ausencia las transforma en una rica lluvia de amor y felicidad para enseñarlos a correr bajo las gotas de amor de una madre que también les pródiga, porque ellos también son sus hijos.

La amabilidad y la sencillez de su gente es incomparable; sus plazas Bolívar y Montes, que han visto pasar generaciones, amores y desamores que van y vienen, y los disfrutan de la inocencia de los niños que juegan ríen, corren convencidos de que esa aroma a nuevo, a vida esperanza no pasará jamás.

Mi corazón se exalta cuando escribo y añoro regresar recorrer sus calles, abrazar a su gente, volver a derramar lágrimas. Pero esta vez de felicidad porque sé que se conviertan en lluvia, y que mi hijo disfrute correr por sus calles bañandose en la lluvia de amor.

Cumanacoa is the eternal evergreen spring
