in GEMS3 years ago

Hello Hive

It has only been 3 month we started this particular garden located at tanke Junction in Ilorin where my sisters family lives.

I have been particulate about taking care of every seed planted in the garden the joy of watching this green lives grow and now its fruit time.

The maize(corn) is getting ready and in about three weeks from now this can be harvested.

The rain has been favorable and I did apply fertilizer when it was 6weeks old.

Other vegetables here are also doing well. I was lucky to have planted some banana seedling, I almost forgot about it under the potato leaves only to realize that it has grown so well beneath the tress.

Important of bitter leaves.

I got bitter leaves here as well and today's garden tour and check up didn't end without me harvesting some of the bitter leaves for the days meal.

We use bitter leaves traditionally for the treatment of fever and feverish conditions. Each time we get the symptoms of headache and bitter tongue, the leaves is squeezed and extracted with water for someone to drink.

The leaves is also used to cook different kind of local soup and has its medicinal properties as well.

I did pluck some for soup 😊.

The potatoes has widely spread itself to cover all the ground and almost every available little space.
I never knew the tiny transplanted stems will fill the whole place. This will not produce good harvest unless it is trimmed and poured away but we don't want to waste the stems as they can be propagated again.
