I truly believe that books can change your books, and I am not just saying I have seen their impact on my life. And It changed me totally.
I newly joined the university in 2016, and the first day I went to university, I was standing timid there confused, thinking that I might be the one who is the most null person and not smart. I was hesitant to enter the class thinking that what people think of me, as at that time my body size was like a middle school kid. And people used to laugh at me Saying what are you doing in the University? You look like a schoolboy. That truly decreased my confidence and I was hesitant to ask a question in the class. I was literally non-existent in the class. No one knew me except my few friends. Well, 1 year passed.
Finally, I was able to gain weight and now I was not looking like a schoolboy, I was big, but my face was still like a boy. But that was not a problem, till 2018 I have no interest in the books. But one day I was just going to the book market and was seeing books on the stall. Those were cheap replicas of the books not original and he was selling one book for 200 PKR like 1.3$. That was cheap but as a student, it was a fair price. so I bought it The Subtle Art of not giving the fuck. I started to read it, I faced hard time understanding it as I have never been to reading anything except preparing for the exams. I read that book fully in 2 to 3 weeks. I enjoyed it reading a lot. It taught me not to care about people, to live the way you want to live, to do what you want to do, and to not give a fuck to the things you can not control. So I was facing a difference In my life.
After reading that book I was feeling another difference that was that I want to read more books to enlighten my mind. So I happened to pass by the book market I bought my second book 21 Lessons from 21st Century. This book impacted me a lot, and give me the sense of seething rationally. And I start to question different things, I used to question things that were considered heresy before. Now that starts to seem illogically not supported by valid arguments. And after that day I am more confident in the class confronting my teachers with questions, and most of the time they could not answer those question, I start to feel my self worth something and knew that I have something to talk about.
Since that day, I am buying more books than I could read and I am printing books, which are expensive or not available in hard copy here, as finding books in Villages is hard so I used to send PDF to the book printing shop and then send me the printed book. Most of the time I do not get time to read the book that I have bought. But I love to read it. May it's not getting its turn. I bought lots of books that I was facing storage problem so I upgraded to kindle. I use to read books but now I use professional books to achieve what I want to want to achieve.
In the end, I would strongly urge you to read books as it opens up your mind for the lots of possibilities and bring you out of the small things and make you realize there are lots of things that can be achieved and you start to see things with lots of perspectives. I wasted some years, I regret alas If I could have started earlier. But nothing can be done and It's good what has happened and we can make our future good learning from the past.
