My Introductory Post To Hive

I feel so excited just like a child who's just been handed their favorite candy. Why? For long I have been in search of a platform to share my love of freedom, beauty and the arts with others because sharing is the closest thing to caring. And thanks to a like-minded fellow @maxwellmarcusart am finally here for good.

As early as twelve I had fallen in love with poetry and music and had decided I wanted a career as a recording artiste. However my parents wanted me to go to college to earn a degree and work to earn a decent living, something which life had denied them both. Fortunately for them in that regard I excelled in my academics and at the recommendation of a good enough number of my teachers I was enrolled in a medical school.

Even though most of my friends thought I would make a fine footballer, I cared less about playing for anything beyond the fun of the game. The odds of making it pro were hugely stacked against boys in my neighborhood. Only a handful ever made it any far,and even fewer could ever dream of making it as musical artistes. To make things tougher, I was interested in nothing but hip hop music, something that was foreign among the locals. I had taken a fancy to it even though I cant say exactly how it all started. I sounded like a joker any time I mentioned it to anyone or at least so I thought. My mum might consider it but my dad would have none of that.So for the time I would abandon my artistic ambitions to gather dust while focusing on my medical studies. After an arduous journey, I had graduated to the delight of my parents but less to mine.

This will be even more evident during the years to come as I kept on practicing as a doctor in my west African homeland of Nigeria. Poverty and unemployment were commonplace so its health indices couldnt be any good. People were turning up sick in their numbers and the few healthcare workers were usually overworked and under-payed with facilities that could speak up for wear and tear. To make matters worse, the pay was hardly enough to afford a decent living.

So when again I quit my job for a third or fourth time, it would come as no surprise to those who knew me relatively well.T here was little room for creativity and after months of routine I finally summoned the courage to leave and roam again a free-thinker. Freedom comes at a cost and I know there were chances I could be in for some hard times again but if I could find the courage to quit again then I should summon enough again to follow in whatever direction of my heart led.

I believe that life is beautiful regardless of the challenges we encounter in our daily lives which may cast a shade of gloom on our percerption of things.And if daily you fail to soak in all the beauty that life holds in store for us then you are not alone.Our minds are daily occupied with worries,fears and our insecurities.The next bill,a lost love,the list of the mind's preoccupation is endless.All of these create anxiety,something that does not mix well with freedom and happiness.I believe that if one craves to make the most out of life then a good degree of freedom is required.

A free mind is an open mind and an open mind is a creative one.Children still glow with the most beautiful of smiles whereas more adults walk about with scowls on their faces.Often as we grow older it might look like things are starting to fall apart to some extent and we might begin to feel powerless and afraid.

For now I can only caste my mind to the Italian Renaissance writer Niccolo Machiavelli who said 'I am no longer afraid of poverty or frightened of death'. I am living through my fears,ready to confront them rather than try to escape them.But for the time I had to escape to the beach for some romance with beautiful nature. My hobbies remain reading and writing, singing and dancing, fashion, playing football and doing whatever else is fun in life.
