Reciclar se ha vuelto un hábito para mí y es por eso que hoy quiero compartir con ustedes ésta genial idea para aprovechar una simple caja de cartón y aprender como darle un buen uso. Con pocos materiales puedes crear grandes cosas y sobre todo, puedes reducir los desechos en tu casa y comunidad. Esta caja organizadora está creada para mis hijas, para que tengan un lugar donde guardar sus útiles mientras hacemos tareas en casa.

Recycling has become a habit for me and that is why today I want to share with you this great idea to take advantage of a simple cardboard box and learn how to put it to good use. With few materials you can create great things and above all, you can reduce waste in your home and community. This organizer box is created for my daughters, so they have a place to store their supplies while doing chores at home.

Para el engrudo: necesitamos 1/2 litro de agua y 3 cucharadas de harina de trigo. Mezclamos y llevamos a fuego lento sin dejar de remover hasta que espese. Reserva en un envase y usa cuando esté frío.

For the paste: we need 1/2 liter of water and 3 tablespoons of wheat flour. Mix and bring to a simmer while stirring until it thickens. Reserve in a container and use when cold.

Empezaremos cortando las 4 tapas superiores de la caja. El papel para envolver es muy versátil y fácil de usar, le dará un aspecto de madera a la pieza y junto al engrudo, aportará fuerza y resistencia. Lo cortaremos en trozos retirando los bordes dañados. Este papel es el que envuelve algunos alimentos como la harina PAN o el azúcar y al igual que la caja, la saqué de la basura de una bodega.

We will start by cutting the 4 upper covers of the box. The wrapping paper is very versatile and easy to use, it will give the piece a wooden look and together with the paste, it will provide strength and resistance. We will cut it into pieces removing the damaged edges. This paper is the one that wraps some foods like PAN flour or sugar and like the box, I took it out of the trash in a warehouse.

Con una brocha o pincel comenzaremos a esparcir encima de la caja todo el engrudo, y pegando papel cubriendo cada lado de la caja. Este proceso te llevará algún tiempo.

With a brush or brush we will begin to spread all the paste on top of the box, and sticking paper covering each side of the box. This process will take you some time.

Lo ideal es aplicar engrudo, colocar el papel y volver a cubrir con engrudo. Usa tus manos para sacar el aire debajo del papel, estirar y ubicar mejor cada trozo de papel. Es como envolver un regalo y hay q tener cuidado con los bordes y las esquinas.

Ideally, apply paste, lay down the paper, and cover with paste again. Use your hands to get the air out from under the paper, stretch and better position each piece of paper. It's like wrapping a gift and you have to be careful with the edges and corners.

Cubre cada lado y deja secar para trabajar mejor. Al final coloca en el sol unos 30 minutos para que se seque completamente y se endurezca. Puedes aplicar más engrudo si hay papel levantado, o pegar más.

Cover each side and allow to dry to work better. At the end, place in the sun for about 30 minutes so that it dries completely and hardens. You can apply more paste if there is raised paper, or glue more.

Con la caja seca y lista, podemos agregar unos detalles en su interior. Para eso usaremos tres rollos de papel higiénico y un trozo de cartón más fino. Antes medí el tamaño de los cuadernos que quiero organizar en esta caja para saber el espacio extra que podía usar.

With the box dry and ready, we can add some details inside. For that we will use three rolls of toilet paper and a thinner piece of cardboard. Before I measured the size of the notebooks that I want to organize in this box to know the extra space I could use.

Con un poco de silicón caliente fijé el borde inferior de cada rollo y la cartulina que sirve de respaldo en en extremo de la caja por dentro.

With a little hot silicone I fixed the bottom edge of each roll and the cardboard that serves as a backing at the end of the box on the inside.

Puedes pintar como prefieras, esta vez no tenía suficiente pintura así que decidí darle toques de color blanco con la brocha gruesa y con un pincel más fino le di toque de colores con las témperas neón.

You can paint as you prefer, this time I did not have enough paint so I decided to give it touches of white with the thick brush and with a finer brush I gave it a touch of colors with the neon tempera.

Cuando seque, está lista para guardar y organizar todo lo que quieras. Cómo les comenté antes, la función de esta caja es mantener ordenados los útiles escolares de mis hijas ahora que hacemos las actividades en casa.

When it dries, it is ready to store and organize whatever you want. As I mentioned before, the function of this box is to keep my daughters' school supplies in order now that we do the activities at home.

Funciona genial para guardar libros, cuadernos y también lápices y otros útiles. Todo en la misma caja, así será más fácil para las niñas encontrar sus útiles.

Works great for storing books, notebooks, and also pencils and other supplies. Everything in the same box, so it will be easier for girls to find their supplies.
