Esencia Intelectual: la virtuosa cualidad que enmarca nuestra existencia. - Intellectual Essence: the virtuous quality that frames our existence.

Visto desde una perspectiva tradicional, el intelecto o el mismísimo entendimiento puede ser considerado como esa facultad de pensar intrínseca en todo ser humano, de hecho, de la propia intelección puede derivar cierta diferenciación que nos distingue entre las demás especies de mamíferos y de animales en general debido a la capacidad de raciocinio que poseemos. Pero, ¿de dónde éste deriva y cómo puede llegar a desarrollarse? ¿Cuál resulta ser su aplicabilidad? ¿Qué otras capacidades pueden surgir a partir de él? Estas son interrogantes que en dicha oportunidad me permitiré responder basándome en la lógica racional y en función a mi punto de vista particular.

Seen from a traditional perspective, the intellect or the very understanding can be considered as that faculty of thinking intrinsic to every human being, in fact, from the intellect itself can derive certain differentiation that distinguishes us from other species of mammals and animals in general due to the capacity of reasoning that we possess. But where does it derive from and how can it be developed? What is its applicability? What other capacities can arise from it? These are questions that I will allow myself to answer on the basis of rational logic and according to my particular point of view.

Se dice que la razón discursiva se construye a partir de las premisas que tienen como base sustancial un precedente conceptual, es decir, intelecto en su forma primaria y más orgánica, pues el origen del concepto puede remontarse a la filosofía antigua de la mano de grandes pensadores tales como Anaxágoras, Platón o incluso el mismo Aristóteles; ellos sostenían que el intelecto resultaba ser la capacidad introspectiva de “leer dentro” que sustentaba la penetración de la interioridad por medio del pensamiento como el sustrato de carácter intransferible y único que puede llegar a prescindir de las particularidades exteriores para así edificar las ideas que giran en torno a un algo. Aunque uno de los elementos capaces de añadirle contexto al entendimiento pasa por las apreciaciones externas, su forma de pensamiento de naturaleza intuitiva y perfecta no necesariamente se encuentra ligada a las categorías que definen al espacio y al tiempo como factores influyentes en la construcción de nociones.

It is said that discursive reason is constructed from the premises that have as a substantial basis a conceptual precedent, that is, intellect in its primary and most organic form, since the origin of the concept can be traced back to ancient philosophy by the hand of great thinkers such as Anaxagoras, Plato or even Aristotle himself; They held that the intellect was the introspective capacity to "read within" that supported the penetration of interiority through thought as the unique and non-transferable substratum that can come to dispense with external peculiarities in order to build up ideas that revolve around a something. Although one of the elements capable of adding context to the understanding goes through external appreciations, its way of thinking of an intuitive and perfect nature is not necessarily linked to the categories that define space and time as influential factors in the construction of notions.

Una de las características fundamentales que resulta imprescindible rescatar de la mecánica del intelecto es su unitaria forma sucesiva de ser, pues dicha intelección se percibe como un conglomerado de elementos particulares que componen la secuencialidad de objetos inteligibles o arquetípicos que forman al entendimiento como la base de la propia comprensión. La inteligencia, por ejemplo, habitualmente tiende a ser identificada como la esencia del proceso racional debido a que sobre sí misma destaca la capacidad cognitiva de comprender las distintas unidades que rigen a lo semejante para así elaborar conceptos y posteriormente relacionarlos con otros más, procedentes igualmente de la misma naturaleza, empleando el razonamiento distinguido, mientras que la razón, por otro lado, es considerada como la función suprema que nos permite trasladarnos de lo individual a lo universal, de la concreción y concisión hacia la abstracción del pensamiento y del ámbito condicional y de las propias condiciones hacia el necesario principio incondicionado dentro del aspecto metafísico, esto con el fin de revelar la verdad que se encuentra sujeta al proceso en cuestión a través del conocimiento en todas sus facetas y expresiones.

One of the fundamental characteristics that it is essential to rescue from the mechanics of the intellect is its unitary successive form of being, since said intellection is perceived as a conglomerate of particular elements that make up the sequentiality of intelligible or archetypal objects that form the basis of understanding itself. Intelligence, for example, usually tends to be identified as the essence of the rational process due to the fact that on itself stands out the cognitive capacity to understand the different units that govern what is similar in order to elaborate concepts and subsequently relate them to others, equally coming from the same nature, using distinguished reasoning, while reason, on the other hand, is considered as the supreme function that allows us to move from the individual to the universal, from concreteness and conciseness to the abstraction of thought and from the conditional realm and conditions themselves to the necessary unconditioned principle within the metaphysical aspect, this in order to reveal the truth that is subject to the process in question through knowledge in all its facets and expressions.

Más sencillamente, hablar de intelecto es proporcional a hacer alusión al análisis y comprensión que cada persona le concede al mundo que lo rodea a través de sus procesos mentales intrínsecos, pues, como dije, la razón juega un rol destacado en tales mecanismos ya que de algún modo esta facultad tiende a asimilarse con el hecho que reside en discernir el orden oculto contenido en este vasto universo para así darle paso al mejoramiento de las condiciones de existencia al cual el sujeto se encuentra sumido.

More simply, to speak of intellect is proportional to making reference to the analysis and understanding that each person gives to the world that surrounds him through his intrinsic mental processes, since, as I said, reason plays a prominent role in such mechanisms since somehow this faculty tends to be assimilated with the fact that it resides in discerning the hidden order contained in this vast universe in order to give way to the improvement of the conditions of existence to which the subject is submerged.

Con respecto a su desarrollo, el entendimiento se va abriendo camino con el transcurrir de los años por medio del aprendizaje y de las experiencias que vamos adquiriendo en situaciones determinadas de la vida a medida que crecemos y evolucionamos, por ello su estimulación permanente debe ser esencial dentro de nuestros requerimientos necesarios como seres racionales. La manifestación de experiencias culturales concretas también puede adquirir un tinte particular con respecto al tema ya que cuando el hombre realiza su aparición sobre la faz de esta tierra, el intelecto tiende a manifestarse, por ejemplo, en la constante modernización de las herramientas y los métodos empleados por el sujeto que contribuyen a sustentar y beneficiar exponencialmente su propio estilo de vida.

With respect to its development, the understanding is opened up with the passing of the years through learning and the experiences that we acquire in determined situations of life as we grow and evolve, for that reason its permanent stimulation must be essential within our necessary requirements as rational beings. The manifestation of concrete cultural experiences can also acquire a particular tinge with respect to the subject since when man makes his appearance on the face of this earth, the intellect tends to manifest itself, for example, in the constant modernization of the tools and methods employed by the subject that contribute to sustain and benefit exponentially his own lifestyle.

Ahora, desde un punto de vista más ético, el intelecto también puede considerarse como la base principal de la moral gracias al discernimiento que logramos edificar sobre lo que es verdaderamente positivo y lo que podamos considerar como particularmente negativo, pues a pesar de las posibles fallas que puedan acaecer sobre tal concepto, es dicha facultad la que nos permite fundar y clarificar la búsqueda del bien y el rechazo hacia el mal.

Now, from a more ethical point of view, the intellect can also be considered as the principal basis of morality, thanks to the discernment that we manage to build on what is truly positive and what we can consider as particularly negative, because despite the possible flaws that may occur on such a concept, it is this faculty that allows us to found and clarify the search for good and the rejection of evil.

Debido a la importancia elemental que se le es atribuida a tan magnánima cualidad del hombre, el conocimiento y su carácter inmaterial en fusión con el propio entendimiento se puede relacionar ampliamente con la conciencia y el espíritu de carácter trascendental, pues la presencia de esta facultad de proporción intelectiva puede fungir también como prueba suficiente y evidente de la existencia del alma humana entendida como la esencia y el fundamento del acto que gira en función al ser de la persona, pues considero que nuestra propia naturaleza humana puede interpretarse como la sustancia individual que es construida en base a las proporciones racionales que definen nuestra voluntad de pensar y posteriormente existir.

Because of the elementary importance attributed to such a magnanimous quality of man, knowledge and its immaterial character in fusion with one's own understanding can be broadly related to consciousness and spirit of transcendental character, for the presence of this faculty of intellectual proportion can also serve as sufficient and evident proof of the existence of the human soul understood as the essence and foundation of the act that revolves around the being of the person, for I consider that our own human nature can be interpreted as the individual substance that is constructed on the basis of the rational proportions that define our will to think and subsequently exist.

Para finalizar con esta intervención, soy participe de que el entendimiento no sólo se encuentra basado en el conocimiento inamovible y certero, sino también en la destreza que todos nosotros podemos desarrollar para aplicar tales conocimiento en el ámbito de la práctica y, de ser necesario, recurrir a la incertidumbre para así lograr estimular nuestras ideas creativas cuando la convencionalidad se torne un factor limitante, por ello me gustaría citar las sensatas y sencillas palabras del famoso autómata italiano Leonardo da Vinci: “Así como el hierro se oxida por falta de uso, de la misma forma la inactividad puede destruir al intelecto”. ¡Hasta la próxima, amigos!

To conclude with this intervention, I would like to participate in the fact that understanding is not only based on immovable and accurate knowledge, but also on the skill that we can all develop to apply such knowledge in practice and, if necessary, resort to uncertainty in order to stimulate our creative ideas when conventionality becomes a limiting factor.
