Introducing myself to the GOND ART

in GEMS3 years ago

The art comes from the centre of India, that is Madhya Pradesh but is seen to have become in a vital part of western states such as Orrisa, Bihar and Chhattisgarh as well.

For me, it was a doodle only. I use to just paint the base color and doodle it with the black Paint. Lately, when I actually started oberserving the art, I realised how different it actually is . There is hardly any use of black colour. It’s more of a play between the shades of the same color.

And now, when I got a commission assignment for the same, I did a thorough study of the colours, the pattern used, the subject chosen and more such detail. I have got around 20 of these to paint and I couldn’t have been more excited.

When I sketched and painted my first painting of this series, I didnt wanted to stop. I loved the whole process way too much. I lost myself while filling up the patterns in there.

I used a series of ‘0’ brushes. It was 0,00, and 000. Never used them before as well, so this long and I loved it. Hence , the love happened .

Sharing the pictures of my first Gond Art painting here…
