¡Hola, hola, Hivers y comunidad GEMS! Hoy queremos hablar y celebrar la amistad. En este post hablaremos de esos amigos y amigas que han llegado a hacer nuestras vidas diferentes. Tomaremos fragmentos de un episodio de la serie “Avatar: la leyenda de Aang”, de la cual hablamos en nuestro Review about.

El tiempo es una ilusión: Aang y sus amigos van volando sobre un pantano, y se sienten extrañamente atraídos hacia él, como si los estuviera llamando, deciden ignorarlo y continuar su camino, hasta que un tornado los hace aterrizar forzosamente allí.

Este pantano es especial, tiene cualidades espirituales que lo hacen manifestar cosas inesperadas. Hizo de las suyas y todos terminaron separándose. Cada uno tiene visiones peculiares, de personas que extrañan mucho, o que perdieron. Pero Aang ve a una niña desconocida, riéndose. La sigue, pero ella se esconde y aparece en otro sitio. En el proceso de cada uno seguir su visión, se encuentran de nuevo los tres, sin haber podido conversar con sus respectivas apariciones.

Un maestro agua del pantano, bastante sabio, ayuda a Aang a entender que el tiempo es una ilusión y que quizás no se trate de alguien que conoció sino de alguien que está por llegar a su vida. La niña era, nada más y nada menos, que Toph: la maestro tierra que enseñaría al joven Avatar a controlar este elemento.

Cuando Aang encontró luego a Toph en persona, reconoció que era la niña del pantano, y buscó contactarla, seguro de que tenían mucho que hacer juntos. Y con esa mística visión, surgió una amistad muy especial y rústica entre ellos dos.

Aunque ninguno de nosotros ha experimentado eso de tener visiones, sí hemos podido reconocer cuando un amigo estaba “destinado” (por así decirlo) a llegar a nuestra vida. Sientes esa familiaridad, esa confianza como si la persona hubiera estado contigo desde hace mucho tiempo y sabes, además, que ha llegado para quedarse. Algo, que podríamos llamar intuición, te dice que debes caminar junto a esa persona y que son muchas las aventuras que vivirán juntos.

Esto no significa que será una amistad perfecta, pues tal cosa no existe. Aang y Toph tuvieron muchos roces por sus personalidades muy opuestas. Eso no impidió que se convirtieran en amigos entrañables. Los conflictos pueden ser oportunidades para reconocerse y crecer, como lo hicieron ellos dos. Y es importante contar con la valentía y la nobleza para hacer que esto pase, y no permitir que los roces (propios de las relaciones humanas) nos separen de personas que queremos profunda y verdaderamente.

Un par de notas curiosas que tenemos sobre este episodio:

• Es en un pantano donde Aang tiene la visión de la llegada de su gran amiga y maestro, Toph. Un lugar que puede pensarse sucio, peligroso, incómodo, le regaló esto al Avatar.
  
  
• Si no hubieran aterrizado en el pantano (sin querer), Aang no habría podido conocer a Toph en las circunstancias que lo hizo. Fue la visión lo que le permitió identificarla luego.

Creemos que las amistades están llenas de símbolos: canciones, lugares especiales, alguna comida, una serie o película, anécdotas que nos han marcado. El pantano fue ese lugar especial en el que el Avatar y Toph se vincularon.

Friends that have come to stay

Hello there Hivers and GEMS community! Today we want to talk about and celebrate friendship. In this post we will talk about those friends who have come to make our lives different. We will take snippets from an episode of the series "Avatar: The last Airbender", which we talked about in our Review about.

Time is an illusion: Aang and his friends are flying over a swamp, and they feel strangely attracted to it, as if it were calling them, they decide to ignore it and continue on their way, until a tornado forces them to land there.

This swamp is special, it has spiritual qualities that make it manifest unexpected things. Later on It did its thing and they all ended up getting split up. Each one has peculiar visions, of people they miss a lot, or that they have lost. But Aang sees an unknown girl, laughing. He follows her, but she hides and appears somewhere else. In the process of each one following their vision, the three meet again, without having been able to reach their respective apparitions.

A rather wise swamp waterbender helps Aang understand that time is an illusion and that it may not be someone he knew but someone who is about to come into his life. The girl was none other than Toph: the earthbender who would teach the young Avatar to control this element.

When Aang later encountered Toph in person, he recognized that she was the girl in the swamp, and sought to contact her, certain that they had much to do together. And with that mystical vision, a very special and somewhat rocky friendship arose between the two of them.

Although neither of us have experienced that of having visions, we have been able to recognize when a friend was "destined" (so to speak) to come into our lives. You feel that familiarity, that trust as if the person has been with you for a long time and you know, moreover, that he or she is here to stay. Something we could call intuition, tells you that you should walk together with this person and that there are many adventures that you will live together.

This does not mean that it will be a perfect friendship, for such a thing does not exist. Aang and Toph had many disagreements because of their very opposite personalities. That didn't stop them from becoming close friends. Conflicts can be opportunities to recognize each other and grow, as they both did. And it is important to have the courage and kindness to make this happen, and not allow friction (inherent in human relationships) to separate us from people we deeply and truly love.

A couple of curious notes we have about this episode:

• It is in a swamp where Aang has the vision of the arrival of his great friend and teacher, Toph. A place that can be thought of as dirty, dangerous, uncomfortable, gifted this to the Avatar.

• Had they not landed in the swamp (unintentionally), Aang would not have been able to meet Toph in the circumstances he did. It was the vision that allowed him to identify her later.

We believe that friendships are full of symbols: songs, special places, a meal, a series or movie, anecdotes that have touched us. The swamp was that special place where the Avatar and Toph bonded (at least in a spiritual way).
