It's been a long time since my last post on Hive! During this time, a lot of things have happened and little by little I would like to share with you everything that has happened. I would very much like you to accompany me on this journey of self-discovery and self-improvement. As some of you know, I am working on myself to become a bilingual designer and illustrator, and today I want to share with you the first step on that path, after having been lost.
¡Ha pasado mucho tiempo desde mi último post en Hive! Durante este tiempo, han ocurrido un monton de cosas y poco a poco me gustaría compartir con ustedes todo lo que ha sucedido. Me gustaría mucho que me acompañen en este viaje de autodescubrimiento y superación personal. Como algunos de ustedes saben, estoy trabajando en mí para convertirme en un diseñador e ilustrador bilingüe, y hoy quiero compartir con ustedes el primer paso en ese camino, despues de haber estado perdido.
I recently completed a short course on realistic portraiture that rekindled my love of art and showed me how to apply important concepts in the world of design. The final project of the course gave me the opportunity to put what I had learned into practice and the result was a realistic portrait that was quite pleasing.
Recientemente, completé un pequeño curso sobre retratos realistas que reavivó mi amor por el arte y me mostró cómo aplicar conceptos importantes en el mundo del diseño. El proyecto final del curso me brindó la oportunidad de poner en práctica lo que había aprendido y el resultado fue un retrato realista que fue bastante grato.

The first step is to draw the wrapping line that connects the whole drawing to help us put the body parts in place. It is important to go from the general to the specific and not rush into the details.
El primer paso es dibujar la línea envolvente que conecta todo el dibujo para ayudarnos a colocar las partes del cuerpo en su lugar. Es importante ir de lo general a lo particular y no apresurarse con los detalles.
The next step is to make the anatomical points of the model to have a clearer idea of each part of the body and its extension.
El siguiente paso es hacer los puntos anatómicos de la modelo para tener una idea más clara de cada parte del cuerpo y su extensión.
Once the anatomical points are made, details can be added and deleted to shape the main structure of the drawing.
Una vez hechos los puntos anatómicos, se pueden añadir y borrar detalles para dar forma a la estructura principal del dibujo.
The next step is to draw the structure of the shadow and outline it.
El siguiente paso es dibujar la estructura de la sombra y delimitarla.
With the shadow structure ready, you can proceed to saturate the shadows with a B pencil (such as a 2B) in the direction of the light source, considering the levels of darkness.
Con la estructura de la sombra lista, se puede proceder a saturar las sombras con un lápiz B (como un 2B) en dirección a la fuente de luz, considerando los niveles de oscuridad.
The highlights can then be made using an H pencil (such as a 3H) and lightly shaping in the direction of the body shape from the terminator line of the shadows. It is important to analyze the different levels of luminosity in the model.
Luego, se pueden hacer las luces utilizando un lápiz H (como un 3H) y moldeando suavemente en dirección a la forma del cuerpo desde la línea terminadora de las sombras. Es importante analizar los distintos niveles de luminosidad en la modelo.
Finally, you can define the final details of the hair, expressions and parts of the body to give the drawing more three-dimensionality. With these steps, a rewarding result in drawing realism can be achieved.
Finalmente, se pueden definir los detalles finales del cabello, expresiones y partes del cuerpo para dar mayor tridimensionalidad al dibujo. Con estos pasos, se puede lograr un resultado gratificante en el realismo del dibujo.

The fact that I completed this course made me feel like I had achieved something important and reminded me that it is never too late to pursue our dreams. Although this is just the first step on a path full of challenges and learnings, I am excited for what the future holds. I look forward to sharing my progress with you in the future.
El hecho de haber completado este curso me hizo sentir como si hubiera logrado algo importante y me recordó que nunca es tarde para perseguir nuestros sueños. Aunque este es solo el primer paso en un camino lleno de desafíos y aprendizajes, estoy emocionado por lo que el futuro me depara. Espero poder seguir compartiendo mi progreso con ustedes en el futuro.
