Reflections on the Weekend: Garden and Compost Bin update

in GEMS2 years ago

Saturday I was busy in the garden and on finishing my compost bin project again. This weekend I was able to finish the first batch of 5 compost bins. I am just waiting on confirmation of where they will go before I deliver them.

I also made a quick and dirty trellis for some of my tomato plants that have got big enough they need some help standing.

I just used some of the scrap bamboo from the compost bin project and some rope to hold up the plants. I tie one knot at the top to the bambo and then loosely tie on knot the the bottom of the plant then slowly twist the plant up and around the rope. Each time I visit I will need to do this to the top off the plant as it grows.

The pumpkins are still exploding and a number of the seedlings are doing well. WE will have lots of tomatoes in the coming months. Which is good because tomatoes are very expensive at the market now.

Our seedling beds are producing some new babies which are almost ready for transplant.
