Hello dear hive community, today I want to tell you how is a typical day working as a veterinary assistant.
A day in the office starts at 8:00 am, when you arrive the first thing is to turn on all the lights, air conditioners and computers, together with the doctors we review the patients scheduled for the day and review the medical histories, if they already have them. If there are any patients who have been hospitalized, together with the doctor on duty, their evolution during the night is reviewed and medication is administered.
When the patients arrive, they are taken to the office. If they do not have a medical history, one is opened or updated. After the consultation, according to medical indications, I take blood samples, administer medications or intravenous lines.
In addition to support in consultations I also assist in the areas of laboratory, hospitalization and operating room. Rotating in each one according to the demand of the day, although in the areas where I help most is in consultation and laboratory.
At noon I take my lunch hour, and then continue with the routine, at 1:00 pm I start to complete and send the results of the hematology tests that are not sent from other clinics.
After this, a check-up is performed together with the doctor on duty to the hospitalized patients. The working day ends at 5:00 pm and a doctor stays at night to attend to emergencies, in case there are many patients I also stay during the night.
Hola querida comunidad de hive, hoy quiero contarles como es un día común trabajando como asistente veterinario.
Un día en el consultorio empieza a las 8:00 am, al llegar lo primero es prender todas las luces, aires acondicionados y computadoras, junto a las doctoras se revisan los pacientes citados para el día y se revisan las historias médicas, en caso de que ya tengan. Si hay algún paciente que haya quedado hospitalizado, junto al medico de guardia se revisa su evolución durante la noche y colocación de medicamentos.
Al llegar los pacientes se les hace pasar al consultorio, en casa de no contar con historia médica se apertura una o se actualiza. Luego de la consulta según las indicaciones médicas le realizó tomas de muestras sanguinas, colocación de medicamentos o vías intravenosas.
Además apoyo en consultas también asisto en las áreas de laboratorio, hospitalización y quirófano. Rotando en cada una segun la demanda del día, aunque en las áreas donde más ayudo es en consulta y laboratorio.
Al mediodía me tomo mi hora de almuerzo, para luego seguir con la rutina, a la 1:00 pm se empieza a completar y enviar los resultados de las hematologías que no envían de otras clínicas.
Luego de esto se realiza un chequeo junto a la medico de guardia a los pacientes hospitalizados. La jornada laboral termina a las 5 de la tarde y se queda un médico en la noche para atención de emergencias, en caso de haber muchos pacientes me quedo también durante la noche.
