Good morning everyone,
This beautiful morning I'll be showing you how I made a leather slide(footwear) last night. At my training center yesterday I saw this lovely design and it caught my attention even though I haven't seen where it's been done yet. I asked my boss how it's been made and he gave me an explanation. As I was going home, I branched and got some materials which I'll be needing. Since I don't have a "shoe last" yet, I have to be using my brother's leg size for the measurements.
The materials I used include:
- Leather of choice
- Thick leather for lining
- Lighter leather for capping
- Side wedge
- Marco 6
- Gum
PROCESS
- The first thing I did was to cap the sole top and for that I used a lighter black leather and macro 6. I marked the size l be working with which is size 39 on the Maco 6 and I gummed it with the leather and capped it around as seen below.
- Next thing I did was to cut out the sole Maco with little allowance at the side for the side wedge. After that I gummed the wedge with the Maco and seen below.
- While that one was ongoing, I made a pattern of the slide top, marked it on the leather of choice, gummed it with the thick lining, gummed the side and sew it as seen below.
- Finally I file the side of the sole and the leather edge that I will be gumming. After that I gummed them all together.
