Another morning another stupid early wake time yesterday. At least it is wildly warm for this time of year.... 55 F mid December is not exactly our norm.

I got the boys to school then wasted a bit of time around the house before heading to town. I stopped at N40 to run into the Fly Shop but remembered that we needed salt for the softener. Nicely these bags are 50lb instead of the 40lb bags that we got from HD last time. These are also half way closer to the farm than HD and I like supporting a local company over the big box store. Got more radiator leak stop that I put in later in the morning.

I ran down to HD to pickup the new photocell for the lighting for my client as the one I installed is not acting quite right for him. This new one is able to be rotated and adjusted to see the light better.
Mid day we managed to get a bit of sun shining through the cloud layer that didn't want to burn off.

I put my latest fly on my rod, the white down fly, then rode over to the river around noon.

The fly worked well on the line and I got quite nice casts. At first the fly sat fully on top of the water but once I began to draw it upstream it sunk into the water column.

This is what the thing looks like in the flow of the stream. I cast up into the upper pool which quickly flows down over the rocks and I watched it looking just like this. I think the next one I tie is going to get legs and a thicker body to better imitate a moth.

I got about 45 minutes in and no bites but good visual info on the fly. Plus casting practice is always good to do.

Figured out a nice way to hold my fly rod on my bike so I don't have to remove the case.

I got back to the house in time to watch Littler whoop ass in his title defense match. He had to work a bit but whitewashed as per his norm. I tried to get more holders printed and FINALLY figured out to add the brim which is better holding down the ends that have been lifting regularly and borking the prints. Still not exactly right but it is just the ones on the right that are worst.

Mid afternoon I had to shower and shave before heading up to pickup R after STEM. I stopped at DG first to pickup a couple Nintendo gift cards as R is going to the neighbor's (R's classmate) b-day party on Saturday. Made sure to have dinner ready in time as @stryeyz had bible study.
At some point we will get a real winter going. It would be nice to be able to go skiing before the end of the year...
In the evening I put on A River Runs Through It and damn do I love that movie. I really need to go fish the Blackfoot NE of Missoula!!!

Today I managed 3:30am waking... Later I get the boys to school then my new desk arrives so I will put it together before we have R's winter concert then I must pickup the co-op order. PDC is on all day, the printer is going already, the weekend looks dry thankfully as I have work to do, and I will keep setting up my Thumbtack profile.
