Hey Porschers!
We’ve been unstoppable lately. We are going out for a drive every week at least one time and exploring more #feelingplaces than ever. It must be the post-lockdown syndrome... after being in our home for so long, we need some fresh air!
Today’s route idea came up because we had to pick up some walkie talkies from a friend who was in Calafat during the day. It normally is an hour drive away from our home but somehow we managed to make it longer... which resulted in a beautiful 4 hour drive around the Tarragona province.
We started our route in Calafell and went towards Valls. Then we took a rural road and headed to Capafonts, a tiny village with a lot of charm.
After having some breakfast in the only café in the village (yes, that’s how small it is) we retook our route. We went past Prades, Albarca and other villages from the Alt Camp and Priorat Counties until we reached La Serra d’Almos.
La Serra d’Almos is another tiny village with the BEST “coques” ever. Coques are a traditional type of cake or sweet focaccia that has a lot of variations to it. The most typical sorts are the angel hair coca (Coca de Cabell d’Àngel), the candied fruit coca (Coca de fruita confitada) and the custard coca (Coca de crema). However, because yesterday we celebrated Sant Joan (Saint John’s Day) there was almost no coca left. In Sant Joan it is a custom to buy coca and eat it for dessert after dinner while throwing firecrackers. Sugar and fire; best combo ever, amiright?
Anywho, we were able to get ahold of a chocolate coca (not the most traditional but our absolute favorite) from the famous Cristina Miró Bakery, as well as some Pastissets de Rasquera, which are small Mille Feuille Pastries filled with angel hair. We were very VERY happy.
After that, we continued our route and crossed the **Natural Reservoir of the Llaberia Mountain **Range and headed towards our final destination: the Calafat race circuit.
We met with some friends there, one of which had brought his Porsche GT4 and was driving it around. We couldn’t leave without testing it out on the circuit, so we were luckily able to ride that beauty around the circuit. The speed, sounds and sensations you get while inside of that GT4 are hard to explain, but ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE AND THE MOST FUN THING EVER will give you a head start.
Today was a really good day. We were able to drive our Carrera 997 S, explore the beautiful province of Tarragona and even drive in a professional circuit. All in one morning. Call us multitaskers.
I envy you so much!
