Has this happened to you? You're peacefully sleeping, dreaming about puppies and kittens and oh, that girl you like oooooooooh but then all of a sudden you're not sleep anymore but you're not awake either and you can't move a muscle, you hear weird voices in your room and in the corner of your room there it is, a dark shadow approaching you, slowly but surely to get you it is almost at hand and... and!!! OMG IS ABOUT TO SLAP YOU WITH A SLICE OF CHEESE!!!

I mean, perhaps not exactly like that, but if you've been sleeping and then you woke up and couldn't move and saw some demons that scared the hell out of you, then you, my dear champ have experienced Sleep Paralysis, this irregular state is unpleasant, but don't worry, you're not alone, it is pretty common, data has shown that almost 8% of people suffer from this but up to 50% of all of us have to go through this hallucinating and terrifying episode at least once in our life, I mean that's the reason some artists pull out shit like this!
Of course, I don't need to say that sadly demons and specters don't exist, otherwise, I would be shotgunning them while blasting metal, the reason this happens has to do with a disturbance in our R.E.M. sleep, R.E.M. is Rapid Eye Movement it has nothing to do with the band, ok... just in case in this phase is when we're dreaming and our muscles are shut down to prevent us acting our dreams, but sometimes when we're falling asleep or waking up, we became aware but our muscles are still on sleep mode, this is what causes the paralysis
The hallucinations are a bit more tricky, it has to do with some structures of the brain and the fact that you're still sleeping, your brain is still maintaining the shut down of the muscles but at the same time you're basically still on your R.E.M sleep so you're still dreaming, this combination makes you feel, hear and even fear everything as you are really living it

As I said before, no one is immune to these experiences hurray, everybody! but experts say that genetics, sleep disorders, and poor mental health may contribute, but no fear my dudes, ugly at it is, sleep paralysis doesn't represent any kind of danger to anyone, besides, you cloud try anti-stress exercises before going to bed, have a regular sleeping schedule and if it's really serious, talk to a mental health professional to avoid... you know... seeing Demon Hitler dancing La Macarena wearing a bikini in the corner of your room... talk about nightmares!

Never had sleep paralysis, but I'm very familiar with the hallucinations! Even my husband will attest to that, after the night I scared the crap out of him! 🤣 They are certainly worse when I'm stressed.
You that phenomenon has something to do with the R.E.M. sleep too, but this time instead of being aware with your muscles off, your muscles are on and you still keep on dreaming as nothing happened, so we throw some punches and stuff... my poor wall has some scars...
Oh dear, poor wall. 😆 I'm more of a flight than fight reactor. I've reached the light switch on the other side of the room in record time before! 🤣 My husband got the covers whipped off him one night after his foot touched me mid dream and I thought the other half of the giant roach from Mimic was in the bed! Poor guy was as scared as me that night.
OMG! That's wild, poor guy lmao!

I know exactly what you are talking about. I even made a post about it some time ago -> https://hive.blog/life/@wirago/suffering-from-sleep-paralysis
My last "experience" is like one year ago now, luckily. Still the most terrifying moments I've ever encounterd.
Damn man, those experience were intense, I've had my share of sleep paralysis, but never as frightening as that, it helps that I found about this state of mind pretty early in my life so I could just chill and wait for fo it go away, WHY CAN WE JUST SLEEP IN PEACE MAN!!!
I've experienced Sleep Paralysis and it's not anything nice, you feel your body has the weight of the world in every single part of it, it's hard to breathe and it's hard to move anything but your eyes :C
I've learned how to chill and let them be, I know what's the deal and I hope this post will help you come to the light side of the force
The first time I had sleep paralysis scared the shit out of me. Then it was becoming usual that it became my friend now. :3 It's not terrifying most of the time cos I know how to control the emotions and hallucinations during it finallyyyyyy. And R.E.M. isn't derived from the band? I'm disappointed! >:(
Cool, I see you have mastered the ancient skill of...
This is really useful, no shit from hallucinations lol
P.S. I know right? I guess brain scientists copyrighted the R.E.M. shit first lol

I don't think I've ever experienced this. The sleep paralysis, I mean, not the cheese-slapping thing. I guess I'll just wear blindfolds to bed so that when it's my time to experience this I won't freak out from seeing demons and shit.
#lifehack. 😎
Yeah... I don't what to be that guy but I'm gonna totally be that guy you can hear weird shit too while you're experiencing sleep paralysis, but BUT but, know that you know this you can use the POWER OF KNOWLEDGE to realize what is happening and be chill about it until it goes away
Have you tried this while sleeping?
