Spring and Washington, DC bring to mind cherry trees, most notably in the Tidal Basin, which is a man-made reservoir near the National Mall. There are daffodils and snowdrops already out, but, it is the cherry blossoms that are truly symbolic in their meaning. Spring is a time of renewal. Like most spring flowers, their time is fleeting, flowering profusely, then returning to Mother Earth. The Washingtonians have borrowed a page from the Japanese book, for weeks after the peak of the blooms, it starts raining blossoms, and there are Cherry Blossom parties and picnics, under the canopy of the trees

Yes funny how the cherry blossoms help to mark the calendar. Seems like a year ago, things were in a free fall. I remember the roads were deserted of traffic. Eerily so. Things are not back as they were, but I dare say we are better off than a year ago. Thank you science!

Isn't nature the best? I think so!! I know you have some amazing trees! I can hardly wait to see them and yes! Spring is pretty much here with it being 25C today and warmer tomorrow. But, before I get excited, I hear that it may be cooler next week.
The Japanese Cherry is beautiful! They only take a couple of years to get decent growth on them!

I'm very glad you have an early spring, I had too. There are still alternations between winter and spring, but they are not annoying.
I still have the alterations with winter and spring too. Today is 25C and next week, there might be some snow. :))

Oh I remember the wonderful cherry blossoms from when I lived there. It’s truly magical and a great way to celebrate the return of spring!
It is truly magical! I still love the cherry trees, no matter how many times I see them. They are getting ready to bloom within the month and I am curious to see what they will be doing this year, as last year they closed off all the streets so nobody could drive in.
Anyway, I hope that spring comes to you soon!
