I'm glad you made it this far, I want to share a little bit about the art of drawing letters using different techniques, currently known as "Lettering" as it has become one of the mostthe art of drawing letters using different techniques, currently known as "Lettering" as it has become one of the most popular trends of this year; they are useful for any project, they give a touch of personality, either to a notebook, cover of works, logos, posters, cards, commercial projects; so they are also used for advertising.
In lettering (the art of drawing letters), you can retouch each of the letters at the end, make other strokes, details such as shadows or shapes within each letter, unlike calligraphy (the art of writing letters), which only allows writing in a single stroke or very few without retouching, so you need a good pulse and a lot of practice.
We can deduce that calligraphy is a technique used to write information, while lettering is a way to illustrate a message. That is where the fundamental difference between the two techniques lies.
I discovered this thanks to @ofifcenetve, an Instagram page that sells office products nationwide in Venezuela, and they started an online course during the pandemic and I decided to participate.
Types of lettering
1- Hand lettering
In this one you use pencils, pens, markers, to make freehand strokes. The ideal is to make a sketch in pencil, in order to organize the space and be in appropriate dimensions.
2- Brush lettering
The main difference with the above mentioned is that brush is used as the main instrument, here we can play with colors in a broader way, making incredible mixtures and shading.
3- Chalk lettering
In this the difference lies in the use of chalk on a blackboard, this is currently widely used in businesses for advertising, such as cafes, bakeries, ice cream parlors, among others.
This technique is very useful, I invite you to develop it, the materials are not so expensive, you only need practice and put your imagination to fly, it is a very good activity to do in your free time, cheer up.
