Esta serie cuenta la historia de Teresa Suarez mejor conocida como Gaviota, una recolectora de café, colombiana, que llega a trabajar para la hacienda Casa blanca, de la familia Vallejo, con su mamá, y siendo muy alegre, humilde, sencilla y hermosa, y con un talento para cantar rancheras románticas.
