Utopian shaped me, hive changed me. (The power of interaction)

Before the chain split into 2 (I mean steem), there were countless dapps on the blockchain, and as of then, one of the best was Utopian.

Many might not know Utopian, but if you've been around before 2019, you probably might have come across it.

Utopian was a platform that helped many steemian learned a lot. There were many categories ranging from development to graphics, documentation, blog, idea, bug hunting, and analysis.

Contributions are made and submitted to various categories, which gets reviewed by a moderator. I also served as a moderator in the idea category. All my activities on steem were on Utopian. During those days I made a couple of friends and some enemies too. You cannot be a Utopian moderator without having one person as an enemy. This is because a moderator's review of submitted contents determines the reward that would be received.

So if a lower percentage is given to some people, they take it up and become angry. Like seriously, it's not easy to spend precious time on providing a contribution to Utopian and see your effort wasted. It hurts. But the truth is there were rules and if the contribution doesn't correlate with the category ethics, it would be rated low or ignored.

So you see why moderators make enemies. However, everyone that took part in the projects one way or the other is fantastic. The contributors, moderators, board members are all awesome people.

I don't publish a personal blog on steemit. I only contribute to Utopian

I didn't join steemit as a blogger. I joined as an idea giver on open-source projects under utopian. I became a bug hunter and later delved into writing blogs to promote open source projects. I learned a lot from being a member of the community. Nevertheless, I can't remember a day I publish my own content outside utopian. This limited my interactions on steemit. I never knew it would affect me in any way. I was so naive and didn't pay attention to what's coming.

I began to feel the heat when Utopian took a new turn. When Diego Pucci (the CEO of Utopian) finally packed his project, I knew I had a lot of work to do to key into the steemit system. Something I should have started with ease a long time ago became difficult. It wasn't easy to stand upright and I was discouraged.

The birth of hive rekindled the fire

There was a serious chain quake that resulted in the birth of a new blockchain called the Hive. The blockchain mitosis was s complete success. When the fork was implemented, I decided to start with the community and go as far as I can.

I said to myself: So far I can write in simple English for people to read and understand, I believe I can get into the circle. I was glad when I began to see the positive result of my determination to blog on the hive. It's been a smooth journey. I'm getting motivated every day with the things I see around. Many people are supportive and I really appreciate every input.

And one of the things we must build on the hive is interaction

We must understand that it is not all about votes alone. Getting tractions through posts means a lot to some people. I'm not saying votes isn't a good thing, in fact, it is part of the motivation that keeps many on the blockchain. However, interacting with one another through comments on posts will further help to motivate and encourage people to provide quality content on the hive blockchain.

According to Mark Zuckerberg, he said

We have a very open culture at the company, where we foster a lot of interaction between not just me and people but between everyone else. It's an open floor plan. People have these desks where no one really has an office. I mean, I have a room where I meet with people. But it has all glass, so everyone can see into it and see what's going on.

Hive is an open floor for people to interact. There is more we can express in our day to day interaction with people. We can only get the community moving around when we take interaction seriously. I appreciate the effort of the community in encouraging people to interact via comments on posts. It's a good thought out idea. If you haven't read the post by @anomadsoul powered by @blocktrades, @theycallmedan, @threespeak, and @ocdb, please do. We can make the hive a home for interaction.

Don't be discouraged. Just keep moving.

Like everything, things change and you have to change with them. You just carry on and make decisions that keep you going. When you believe you can do something, try to keep doing it even if you've not seen the results you expected.

There is something unique about the power of consistency. It unveils the best part of you when you least expected. It gives you the drive to move on. It gives optimism and the result is mostly positive.

Blogging on the hive has become a part of me, which can never be taken away for any unreasonable reason. Let's keep blogging and don't forget that life is about experience and interaction; so often, the people make life worth it.

What do you think about the power of interaction?

Thanks for reading.
