A hike through the hills and the tops

in GEMS3 years ago

Everybody needs a hike now and then. For me its the way to vent all the daily stress and struggles, a gateaway from the mundane claws of regular life. And I want to share a few glimpses of what I witnessed this time around.

First I reached Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. Kathmandu is the centre of my country. Its a great place to start any travel journey through Nepal and easier to find routes and buses for desired remote destinations.

This is a Krishna mandir dedicated to lord Krishna. I was in awe when I saw this fine piece of architecture. All that went in my head was how could my ancestors built this complex yet beautiful structure with medival tools and stones.

I can't descripe the peace I felt when I visited Swayambunath stupa. It is an architectural brilliance dedicated to lord Buddha. The soothing buddhist chant that echoes when you reach this place is beyond mesmerising. If you look closely you will see two eyes drawn on the stupa. These are said to be the eyes of Lord Buddha watching over this place.

Travelling a bit further into the heart of Nepal, the tall mighty buildings started to dissappear. Buildings where replaced by lush green forest covering the hills and wooden houses covered by soil and stones. The place was a bit remote and away from modern comforts but there was a differet sense of relaxation, like being closer to my raw self.

At the end destination of my destination in khumjung village, there was green no more. All the land was white, shining cold white and lots and lots of rocks. I felt so small so insignificant at the foot of these mighty himalayas. Your entire world feels small when you stand next to these giants of snow and rock. Life must have been hard living in such cold barren untouched place but the feeling of waking up in the view of these beautiful himalayas is worth every struggle.
