Hello Hivers,
I'm Dinusha from Sri Lanka. If you don't know me. Please read this : https://ecency.com/hive-174578/@chootyd96/introduction-just-want-to-say

Today I would like to introduce a rare and expensive spice in the world. It's called Ceylon cinnamon or true cinnamon. It is one of the treasure for the island of Sri Lanka. There is a high demand for the international market as well. True cinnamon is ranked as the world's fourth most expensive spice. The small Asian country known as Sri Lanka produces 80-90 percent of the world's supply of this product. Sri Lanka is the motherland for Cinnamon.

High quality pure cinnamon only comes from Sri Lanka. In my garden also have cinnamon plants. My father makes cinnamon sticks for home use when he has a free time. So, Today i will show you step by step the process.

This is the cinnamon plant. In my garden there are a lots of cinnamon trees. Some people plant and sell the trees for businessmen.

The harvesting of Cinnamon is done after 3years of planting the tree. When the bark color of the stem turns brown and the stick diameter is around 3-5cm, it is time to harvest.

First, the tree should be cut down. Then The leaves are removed in branches and the trunk of the plant. This is after removal of tree and after dividing the branches and trunk.

Harvested stems should be peeled the same day they are harvested. So, Top rough bark of the stem is carefully removed using a knife.

Then the stem is beaten to loosen the bark from the hardwood like this.

In the next step, slit two parallel slits in the treated stick using a knife like below image.

Then carve out the soft innermost layer of the bark in a single piece, without damaging or fracturing the bark.

These thin and soft bark layers are packed in layers, one inside another, and overlapped from one end to another to create wrapped and layered products. Keep those packs to air dry for 4-7 days.
