These 3 letters have been the talk of the town of late and not limited to just the crypto world.

There's been loads of coverage in mainstream media in regards to these NON FUNGIBLE TOKENS.

Whether its news of Jack Dorsey putting up his first tweet ever for sale as an NFT(bid at the time of writing this was at 2.5 million USD), or the digital artist, Beeple, selling his NFT, "Everydays: The First 5000 Days" for a whopping 69 million USD, it's not hard to see why.

Needless to say, yours truly, had to give this whole NFT business a shot because you never know if you're going to be the next Beeple if you never try, right?😄

It just came down to one big problem.

How do you even NFT?

Getting things done can be hard if you don't know how to do it.

And matters relating to the crypto space aren't exactly the easiest to understand or deal with at this point in time.

You hear horror stories of how people have lost their cryptocurencies in crypto limbo because they sent their ETH to another exchange from Binance using an unsupported network(true story. Happened to my wife).

With all the uncertainty and doubt I had surrounding NFTs I put off looking into it for quite a few months since I heard about it.

That was until my buddy, @zord189, told me about how he minted his NFT on unique.one.

Creating NFTs on UNIQUE ONE

Just like with everything else crypto related, I learned about Unique. One from @zord189.

He told me all about how he minted his NFT and that he managed to sell it.

According to him, the whole minting process was as straightforward as can be on the Unique. One platform(just a disclaimer I have no idea how the minting process works on other platforms. This is just my own experience when it comes to using the Unique. One platform).

Turns out......he was right! As always.

It was as simple as connecting your metamask(or whatever other wallets that are supported,TrustWallet is also supported as far as I know) to the Unique. One platform and hitting on that "create" button.

Ok, maybe not that simple but it's pretty close.

There are definitely a few more steps that you need to go through before your NFT is up and minted.

Step 1

image.png

Go to the website https://www.unique.one/ and pick between "ETH Marketplace" or "xDai Marketplace". For me, I will be picking
the ETH Marketplace.

Step 2

Connect your metamask wallet to Unique.One. If you don't know what that is you can easily just google "how to set up your metamask wallet".

There are loads of tutorials out there.

Also, make sure to load up your wallet with some ETH. You'll need it for the last few steps.

Step 3

image.png

Click on the "Create" button and choose either "single" or "multiple". That's really up to you how many or few you want to create. Generally I've bene creating "Multiple"

Step 4

image.png

At this stage of the process you should now be at a page where you can choose what file it is you want to create as an NFT. So go ahead and pick a file and then name your artwork and give it a description.

Step 5

image.png

I'm no marketing guru by any means but I do personally believe that giving your art work a good description helps to give it some value and uniqueness to it.

As far as the "Collection" options go I'm still not sure what the difference is between the two. So far I've just left it on "Unique.One".

Step 6

image.png

Next make sure to set the "royalties" percentage and also the number of copies(tokens) you're creating.

From what I understand you get paid royalties every time your purchased NFT gets sold and ownership changes hands. So that's pretty cool!

Step 7

image.png

At this stage we're really close to getting your NFT up!

Select the suitable category for your NFT whether its "art", "animations", "collectibles", or even....."NSFW"😎, and toggle the "Put it on Sale" option on.

The "properties" option is optional as it states and I haven't actually used it as I don't yet see the benefits of doing it but feel free to fill it up as you wish.

Step 8
Make sure you have topped up your metamask wallet with some ETH at this point.

You'll need it.

You may now "Click to Create"!

A pop up window will appear to finish off the minting process of your NFT on the Ethereum blockchain.

This part here is a 4 step process in itself where at step 3 you'll have to pay for the gas fees. And boy it can be pretty damn pricey.

My advice is to check this site out to pick the best time to create and mint your NFT for more favourable gas prices.

That's it. Your NFT should be up on the market place for all to view and purchase!

The Uniqueness of UNIQUE.ONE

That was pretty simply, right!

The interface of the platform is quite user friendly, simple to understand, and one of the more underrated aspects is that it's easy on the eyes.

There are also two other things that stand out to me about the Unique. One platform which are

  1. their commitment to help the artist maximize their earnings with the "Artist No-Fee Policy" so the artists can get paid full price for their work.
  2. the ability for artists and users to earn RARE tokens just by publishing their artworks on the Unique. One platform. 10% of the RARE token supply are reserved for creators which in my opinion is a huge incentive!

And those are just the two that really stand out to me.

You can learn more about the platform over here.

Conclusion

So that's all there is to it, guys!

The Unique. One platform is simple and straightforward to use just make sure you have a metamask wallet with some ETH inside to pay for the gas fees.

Now go mint an NFT now!

Sort:

Really good post & straight forward. But that gas fee is very scary.
Can you suggest another way, that wouldn't involve high gas fees. Thanks so much

Hey, man.

Yeah those gas fees can kill you!

You could always choose the xDai Marketplace instead of the ETH Marketplace. From what I've heard you don't need to pay gas fees for that.

Hope that helps!

Thanks man, you're a lifesaver 🙏🏽

Thanks for the contest entry! :)
