Conceptual, minimalist and disturbing, are some of the words that come to mind when looking at the photographic work of the Taiwanese photographer Yung Cheng Lin. This is due to her constant use of white backgrounds and decadent elements such as flies, forced and unusual poses, and cut and bite marks, among others.
Yung Cheng Lin creates images that stand out for their composition, their neutral color palette and the curiosity that many times generate looking at them. Her work does not revolve around the contemplation of traditional beauty, but rather challenges viewers, and sometimes even confronts them with themselves.
Yung Cheng Lin Yun challenges the relationship between beauty and aesthetics. The semiotic charge of her images may make us not consider them beautiful, but their aesthetics are undeniable. Beyond our personal preferences, it is impossible to ignore the quality of your work.
Whether we understand her message or not, the expressive force of her images is like a scream that forces us to turn our eyes to be amazed and disturbed at the same time.
