Good night dear GEMS community,,
After the devastating earthquake and tsunami of 2004 and then, many stories of joy and sorrow still make an impression today
The Aceh earthquake and tsunami that occurred in 2004 was the most devastating in Aceh. The effects caused after the tsunami are countless, one of which is stress and prolonged trauma
Although the government has built various facilities and infrastructures as well as rehabilitation and reconstruction in all fields, the reality is not the case. There are still many tsunami victims who have not received assistance, especially trauma relief and moral recovery assistance
Mrs. Fatimah
There are still many sad stories suffered by coastal communities to this day still causing deep sorrow
Mrs. Fatimah is a widow whose two children have been left by her husband. Until now, Ibu Fatimah is still experiencing deep trauma due to the tsunami. in that calamity her husband and child died
Every day, Mrs. Fatimah just sat there staring at the sea, especially since she lived only 100 meters from the beach. His gaze was blank, occasionally he was seen crying, occasionally he was silent even though someone invited him to talk
Every time I ask, Mrs. Fatimah only tears. His eyes did not seem to flicker looking into the sea, it was late afternoon, but my husband had not yet returned did you see him? that's what he always asked everyone who visited his house
A seat made of used wood is a comfortable rest for him. Starting from morning to evening he spends his time there, I am again waiting for my husband to come home, that's how Mrs. Fatimah answers when someone asks
Every time I ask, Mrs. Fatimah only tears. His eyes did not seem to flicker looking into the sea, it was late afternoon, but my husband had not yet returned did you see him? that's what he always asked everyone who visited his house
Now Mrs. Fatimah lives with her 18-year-old son. The life he experienced was very sad, even I could not bear to show a photo of his old house which was exactly behind him, an old hut made of used wood collected by his son on the beach
As fellow communities who live on the coast we always collect food and deliver it to the family of Fatimah's mother. Especially their children who need money for their education
This is a sad story experienced by Ibu Fatimah, although we have done various methods to help treat it, but it has never worked. The sadness and trauma he experienced was so deep, hopefully one day he can return to normal as usual. may God provide help for him
