In and Out of Context

Some of the most annoying and also most interesting stuff that you can hear about are often to be found in a barber shop... I go there three times a month, cuz my hair asks for it, and tbh I kind of enjoy the talks there, or at least find them interesting.

My barber is some sort of a Jehovah's Witness, or a Baptist, I do not know for sure, I am not into religion, but today he was discussing with some other dude about religion, the Bible, and teachings of the Bible and to me it is amazing how many people literally take the teachings from the Bible word by word.

Very few have the power to interpret stuff, and even fewer are aware that there are high chances the Bible's original text is no longer that original. I doubt the notion of God is that simple and dumb as the Bible makes it, and the stories that come out of that book are so prehistoric imo.

When Albert Einstein tried to explain relativity to humankind he did us such a favor, but very few got the gist of it. I started reading The Psychology of Money today and in some chapter at some point there was an interesting story that particularly caught my attention.

The author was analyzing the situation with Foxconn from China, which from my knowledge is a chip manufacturer for Apple, and according to that analysis that got into Forbes at some point the employees there were compared to slaves (modern slaves).

It is supposed that at some point the nephew of a woman who worked there commented on the matter and said that while for Americans the idea of working in these conditions and living that life might seem like hell for some of them it was a relief.

Like for example his aunt who was a prostitute before getting a job there. For her, working in that factory was a better option than selling her body to multiple men a day for less money than she would get in 12 hours of work a day at Foxconn.

You see, life is so often more about context than simply analyzing the data that's in front of our eyes. When asked about the great financial crisis of 1929, JFK answered that he only found out about it in school because his family was so rich at that time that they had to employ more gardeners just to give more people jobs.

Pretty much the same applies here on Hive where we have users coming from all walks of life, and while for some earning $500 worth of tokens a month through creating content on the platform is peanuts money to others such achievement could be way more meaningful.

The world is not fair, it's not giving each and every one of us equal chances, and even when you analyze your own life you will realize that context is so important. Sometimes a shitty job is just a blessing in disguise, but how many of us see it as such?

It is easy to judge others, draw quick conclusions, and advise others, but it is insanely difficult, if not impossible, to live in another's skin and experience life through their eyes. Isn't it?

Thanks for your attention,
Adrian
