Slippery evening run

Today I had a fun evening run! It was my first run of the new year, so I was really looking forward to go outside.

As you can see in the pictures above it had been raining and freezing today. I had to be a little carefull as the ground was slippery. In order to stay grounded, I shortened my stride lenght a bit and just keep a constant pace.

I really love being out there in the elements, especially when it gets a little more difficult. On days like this the road is mine / no other runners around - which gives quite some satisfaction!
The slippery ground did force me to tense my muscles a little more. Here some small pains (Hamstring) become more present. With a month until my next marathon, this is quality feedback - as it provides me the opportunity to add some focussed strenght and mobility in the next few weeks to target that area.

Starting next week I will add area specific training sessions in order to prepare for the Coast Marathon. On Tuesday I will go to the dunes and the beach to practise on the loose sand. On Wednesday I will go to a hill & forest area.

Happy running!

Well done for managing to continue training even though it was raining, it's really been a great feeling the 2 times it happened to me.
Good luck with the marathon!!!

It shows serious dedication to brave those elements and icy conditions. Glad you had a safe run and didn't get injured (or run over!) It's good to get out there though as it prepares you for anything come race day, and gets those legs in condition to handle it. Great job!
