Not Fast & Furious - A Lazy Runner's Tale

I didn't know such a community exist, I admire runners a lot because they do with ease what I find really hard to do. I was going to hide away from this day's focus just so I could hide the fact that there are lazy people like me who can't run to save their lives. Maybe I could if I'm faced with real danger but I pray that never happens.

Even though as the lazy runner I am, I hope I'm welcome to this community lol. Well, I've got a tale to tell about myself as a runner... Sorry, I mean, as a lazy runner 😂

Ignore the medal looking thing on my neck, I didn't win it from a race lol. It's just one of the images from my phone I thought kinda fits into this post to share my tale. So here is how the tale goes and maybe I'll get to know from your comments if I am really lazy or I just haven't confirmed it well enough yet.

From my childhood, I wasn't the kind that was into sport as most people my age were. I'd choose my studies every time I got the offer to join a sport competition and that affected my engagement with any sport activity growing up. I had this wrong mentality that sports are too rough for ladies and so the guys should be the ones playing them.

Well, at that time, I didn't know there were sports for everyone depending on what you can do, I just generalized them as tough.

Even mere walking fast, I'm not good at it because I tend to get tired easily whenever I try to. It's not that I don't walk fast at all especially in situations that requires my immediate attention, I do but I'll choose the easy way out (walk or take a cab) option anytime if I have it.

No thanks to my lazy running habit, I can't even boost of having a good running posture since I hardly do it. Or don't running have a posture? Like you admire how someone runs... I doubt mine is admirable compared to people I've seen and love their running styles.

Just because I don't do sport like others, it doesn't mean I don't enjoy watching others have fun with it. I've been lost once in a channel that was showing a racing competition, it actually opened my eyes to the fact that there are different kinds of racing games but I had more interest in the ones done with legs.

How they show vigour all through the meter races is really amazing, I can picture myself stopping half way for running out of breath but I guess there are training I could go through to sustain more energy through a race.

This tale isn't about what happened recently as a lot has changed for me. I'm yet to try running since after the last time I did one for fun in a camp service, but I'd be willing to try it out if I get a chance to learn and run better and faster. The last time I ran was when they were recruiting a runner to represent a group at camp, I thought I could try and so they paired me with a fellow lady who felt more confident about her racing ability.

I was so sure I won't beat her in the race audition because I couldn't remember the last time I ran and how fast I did, I just wanted to try it for fun and it was just that. We did some meter race and tell you, I lost my breathe half way. When we stopped running, I could feel all my body sending signals that I just did what I have never done 😂

These images you see with the characters in uniforms are of my team and I playing volleyball at camp. The game also require being very active in running to follow the ball around should it get to your court in order for your team to win. I thought I'd be hard to play the game but I did better with more practice, got more running ability through it and my team won the finals.

With my few experiences as a runner, I believe I'll do great if I should learn how to sustain energy through and keep a balance while I run. For now, I'm just a lazy runner or what do you think?

This is my entry to the June Inleo Prompt Challenge with Day 5 focus on "Experience on a race". Don't know what to write on Hive today? You're invited to participate.

Wowwww
The medal looks great on you even if you didn't win it from a race, lol.Seems you have done your NYSC, looks great.
Nice entry friend. Wishing you better days ahead.

Haha I know right! I'm still serving though

It’s inspiring to see you embrace your journey, even if it’s not always easy. Your camp experiences show that everyone has their own pace, and it’s great to see you finding joy and growth along the way. Your take on being a "lazy runner" is both funny and relatable haha.

Haha it's all good then, I thought you'd be laughing at me but it ended up being funny 😅

oh no, not like that
