It took me as long to start this post as it did to get to Zaragoza. Several hours of driving on the highway, with one short coffee stop. Well, I don't have any coffee now while looking at the screen and the empty draft.
...
More hours have passed and maybe I can detect the problem - I should not look at the empty space. The solution is to look at the photos that are already here, that were taken at the moment when this nice experience was lived. My husband already talked about our mini Spanish Hive meetup that happened in Zaragoza last week (click to this link in case you want to see this day through his eyes), but I must say now, he forgot to mention one little guy who also accompanied us! Yes, yes, you already know who I am talking about.
Prince Hefromund XVI also travelled with us and in one moment, when we were still close to our home, he jumped out of my bag to actively participate in the trip.
He observed these new, unknown landscapes. There were no sharp mountain peaks even though we were at a high altitude, about 1000 metres above sea level. The clouds in the sky were the only entertainment, as the road was quite tedious. I don't blame him that he went back to his shelter to sleep when we were around Teruel.
Four and a half hours of driving and there were more and more signs of the city we were heading towards. I set the navigation to the hotel where we booked and the battle with the traffic lights started. Do you know how many traffic lights there are in Zaragoza?
I don't know, and neither the inhabitants of this city know that. They just say - a lot. 🤷♀
Battles with buses also took place on several occasions. Finally, we arrived at the hotel, and here I have to mention again @jesuslnrs (sorry for the tag, but you will understand now why). According to our source of information (a Hiver whom we met there in person), many years ago Shakira stayed at the same hotel as we did.
She had an important thing - a concert.
We also had an important thing! A mini Hive meetup 😃
Just a short time to rest and we were ready to start our adventure in the heart of Aragón. @palomap3 was also ready - not even five minutes passed from the message where I told her that we could meet at the entrance of our hotel and Paloma flew in with a huge smile on her face. I think her first words were: What eyes you have! 😌
She probably didn't imagine how many hours she would be our tourist guide that day. It was a good physical exercise for all of us but more importantly, it was a heartwarming experience to meet. One of my wishes was to visit The Aljafería Palace, and there we were, in the blink of an eye.
The visit took a bit more than that as we loved being inside, enjoying all the halls and... wait, no spoilers here!
Let's move on to the next place we stopped. It even became dark until we finished our visit to the palace and continued the sightseeing. So, we were standing in front of a church - La iglesia parroquial de Nuestra Señora del Portillo. Our super helpful tourist guide explained to us that there were some brave women who fought in the Spanish War of Independence, two centuries ago, whose remains lie in this church. Of course, she told us much more about the whole situation that happened to the city (more history here) and those women who fought.
This is a monument to their honour in the little square, and in the background, we see one of the bell towers of the church. It was a challenge to take a photo of this monument as there were children playing around... I could not wait longer, so those little scooters were also immortalized for Hive! 😂
I forgot what this building was... but I am sure that I wanted to take a photo of the yellow traffic light. They were an attraction for me because the majority of the traffic lights in my town were replaced by roundabouts.
Another little church, this time I don't remember the name of it, or maybe our guide, Paloma, didn't mention it at all. There were a lot of things that I learned about the city and its most important places and one can't remember all of them.
At this point, we were slowly arriving at the city centre. The Christmas lights that had been prepared for the upcoming season guided us toward the dome of the Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar. A huge cathedral that for me was impossible to squeeze into one photo.
This is one attempt, from one side. Here we met another Hiver, @ninaeatshere. Nina, la niña de la selva. She is a character, a girl who would never let herself be lost, always attentive and although she was the youngest among us, we trusted her suggestions completely. If it is where to walk or where to eat.
For example, the walks with her took us a bit further from the cathedral and then I could make another attempt to place it into a frame. But then I captured the city hall too.
The two statues at the entrance of the city hall became the topic of a debate among us, four Hivers. Which saint and angel are there? San Valero, there were no doubts, was on one side. The name of the angel, the angel of the city will stay the matter of our free interpretation.
In talks and chitchatting we arrived at the old stone bridge that crosses the Ebro river. The views from there are gorgeous and more than a dozen groups of people were there taking photos. If I remember well, we didn't take a group photo of us...at least I don't have such one. Maybe we are just shy Hive people.
And also, the cathedral is more photogenic. Nina took us to a place where the bridge can be seen too, the one we crossed. She definitely knows how to find cool places in this city.
Another idea was to go down to the river bank. However, there were two fishermen who warned us not to go down. They said there were rats! Nina didn't believe them and responded to those two guys that it was a nice attempt to scare us away 🤣
Well, they showed us a video recording of a rat, eating the food they had as bait for fish. The desire to go down and take a cool photo with the reflection of the cathedral in the river immediately disappeared {lol}. Therefore, there is just a photo of a part of the nicest building on the other side of the river.
Too much walking, right? Where is the dinner??
For that, we had to go back to the city centre and the famous "El Tubo" of Zaragoza. So many little bars and restaurants were all around. How could we choose one to have dinner, the best one?
No more questions here. We had Nina!!
La casa de las migas was the chosen one, and it was fantastic! Maybe it seems too simple, but that was the trick, to get something traditional, authentic. The cuisine was exquisite and the service too.
We ordered several dishes...
The first one that arrived was goat cheese with quince jelly:
Then Migas with chorizo (I think there is no better translation to English), spicy potatoes and madejas (again, no translation on my part):
In this photo above we see the arms of @palomap3 and @ninaeatshere, ready to share the tasty dinner.
If these were not already enough, the dishes were still arriving. Rabo de toro (ox tail):
The next one was pollo en algo 😂
I really don't remember that name. You know, almost all of these were traditional dishes from Aragón that I have tried for the first time here. I am waiting for our hostesses to write the name of this dish, please. It was very tasty, by the way. Everything was so delicious, to be honest!
In one moment Prince Hefromund joined the dinner (no photo proof, sorry... I was explaining his history and how he got from Poland to Spain. Now those two Hiver ladies think I am crazy or similar 😜).
Time passed so quickly.
The next stop was a pastry shop or ice cream shop, but almost everything was closed already.
In the search for sweets we found just closed pastry shops:
A little shopping centre - food corner was also sleeping at those hours. The giant statue {edited 😅} Cesar Augusto had his eyes closed too.
The statue of the horse was still there, he never sleeps. He receives curious people to make him company (oh no, I didn't ride it, as I know my husband would have no mercy and publish that photo 😂)
The afternoon and the evening were indeed really nice! It is difficult to put into words and post all that we did and talked about. Maybe that is one of the reasons I just needed time to put this together, and still, I miss many things to mention. We also visited a little exposition that evening... and the whole next day remains pending to share with you - the visits to a park, the churches and lunch with Paloma. The gifts we received from these Hive ladies.
But the best gift was the meeting, and despite the cold (no surprise, it is autumn, as the scores of Vivaldi's piece also confirm) we had a great time!
Conclusion?
I don't like farewells or conclusions... but if you are a Hive user and have some opportunities to meet others from our blockchain - don't hesitate to do it.
If you don't have an opportunity - create it by yourself! ✨
Oh, that moment when you don't know where to start telling so many things! I think it's very wise to rely on the pictures, there's all the inspiration you could need.
Hahaha poor prince, bored with the vast desert landscape out there. It has its charm, but it's hard to think about it when you look at the same thing for so many hours driving.
Very welcome to the city of traffic lights, it's definitely amazing how there can be so many, a bit crazy, although I see it's been quite an entertainment for you since they are no longer in your city.
Wait Shakira? Hahaha I didn't know she had been in that hotel precisely, one has to be very showbiz to know that hahaha.
No doubt the Aljafería deserves a complete post to do it justice, there is a lot to see and comment about there. I think it was an excellent starting point to get into the culture of the city and no doubt having Paloma as a guide had to make everything more interesting.
hahaha the story of the rats by the river, what a thing. I was so happy with the walk along the river and we are attacked by the harsh reality of any city, all the fault of humanity, being that among many cities Zaragoza is usually quite clean.
I'm going to share here a picture I took some time ago, with the reflection in the water, which was what I was looking for you to capture in the photo, but well, I'm sure the image will remain in your memory hahahaha.
-The dish whose name you don't remember is the Chicken al chilindrón, I see that my time has come to contribute a bit about our tour so I'm going to get down to writing about our gastronomic experience hahahahaha.
I'm glad you have nice memories of the walk and that you enjoyed the dinner we shared. I enjoyed it very much, I loved sharing that time together and feeling closer and more tangible the world we all share in the blockchain.
You are a great adventure storyteller, I really enjoyed reading your perspective, I will keep an eye out for the rest, because I missed a lot of things. I send you a hug in the distance. ☺️
Wow, that is an awesome photo. So, now I see what views we have missed... because of the rats, or the imagination of the fishermen hahaha 😂
The rest - I can tell you right now! We were mentioning you the next day - as guess where we went to eat? To La Ternasca, but the Migas place was so much better, believe me!
Though, in La Ternasca there was a famous person from the TV, sitting next to our table, Paloma recognized him as we don't watch television. 😅
Siiiii. That one. Nunca lo aprenderé, con mi español 🤦♀ 😁
YES, please! I am sure your gastronomic report will be top-notch, and maybe I can finally learn the names of the dishes :)))
Thank you for coming to this little meeting, it was a pleasure to meet both of you and you know, we are waiting for you girls (and the rest of the people from Zaragoza who couldn't make it to the meeting) to come to our place and make up for the missed ice cream :))
A big hug to you too 😇
OMG I had no idea you guys were thinking of going to eat there hahaha. Well every place has its good things and others that are not so interesting, it's a matter of choice. I'll keep an eye out for the next trip report, I hope you thought of me enough and took pictures of the food hehehehe.
Hey @palomap3 who was that celebrity you saw? #chisme
Uff the pollo al chilindrón is one of the best things in life. It makes me feel the same comfort as when I eat a Peruvian dish called Ají de gallina, they are nothing alike but make me feel just as happy haha.
I take your word for a next visit, those plans also make me very happy, travel and eat hahaha. I will study the gastronomy you have there hahaha.
Travel and eat - a good combination 🥳
Hahahah, #chisme 😂
We had migas in La Ternasca, but with a fried egg. Of course, we had also other stuff... but the question is, how will I remember the names of them!!🤦🏻♀️ 😂
Yes, we went there and we needed your help to choose the menu, hahaha.
I am sorry for the delay, I came late. 😅 The famous ( #chisme) was Gonzalo Montoya, his merit is to have participated in La isla de las tentaciones. 🤣🤣🤦♀️
Not every day I have the opportunity to share the day with someone who sleeps under the same roof that Shakira slept, haha. 😝
Beautiful report! Now I don't know what to write about our meeting... I keep resting the ideas because I took few photographs that decorate them. Your eyes dazzled me!
It was very nice to meet the three of you, we vibrate in similar tunes and that turns the meeting into a symphony that is recorded here.
Thank you. For everything, dear. 😍♥️🤗
Hahaha, actually Shakira can be happy that she slept in the hotel where some Hivers met hahaha 😂
You will know what to write as all of us can see it from a different angle, well, the same meeting but again, through different eyes. 😉
These are beautiful words, @palomap3 🤗 I see that I infected you with music vibes hahaha. Must be because I was singing that Vivaldi thing from the window shop when I saw it 😁
Tomorrow is Wednesday - can you believe that almost a week passed since this meeting? 😱
I come late here… but I come, finally. 😅
Absolutely agree with you, Shakira had luck for sleeping in the same hotel as those especial hivers. 😁
A week passed but the lovely time continues in my heart for always. 🥰
While Spanish tapas beat anything you can get here in the Czech Republic, our sweets are definitely worth trying :) And the cukrárnas here don't usually close that early :P
Next time we have dinner in Spain, and dessert in the Czech Republic 😉
We didn't go to the brewery you found, it is still waiting for the time when you come to Spain. Well, that one or another one, somewhere on the coast 😋
I like Asturias and Cantabria in general :)) And I even like their cidres ;)
So the coast could be the Atlantic ;)
I knew I had to add the word "Mediterranean" before the coast hahaha 😁
But Asturias and Cantabria, as well as Galicia are on our bucket list 😇
I've only been to Asturias, but I love it :) You can take a dip in the sea there all year long. Or at least I can ;)
You had a wonderful time and you stayed at the hotel Sharika stayed. That must be another experience haha.
I haven't had a chance to meet Hive users yet but I know I should do it at some point. I also visited @ph1102's post and told him that I was thinking of organizing a meetup in Turkey and he said that you can come if you are available. I hope you will be.
Yes, he mentioned that you would like to make one in Turkey. Well, we have never been to Turkey, who knows, maybe it would be the opportunity to visit it ;)
I hope so, Turkey is a heaven that everyone should visit. Looking forward to meet you as well :)
The authentic dinner looks so good especially when you don't know what you're eating most of the time, it adds to the anticipation. And you have two lovely local ladies to guide you with the best food. Lucky you !!
I know Spaniards tend to have dinner very late, so I'm surprised the dessert places closed so early. Hope you made up for it the next day.
Nothing better than the traditional food we had that evening. Thanks to our guides, of course, we would not know what to choose. 🙂
The next day we had again lunch in one of these taperías but we were not hungry for any dessert at that time. 🤐
There is a part where you say: time passed so quickly.
You know, that's what happens when you are having a lot of fun. En Zaragoza se goza 😅.
¡Alabao! la Flor del Almíbar se duerme temprano 🤦🏻♀️.
Hahaha, sí, seems that in Zaragoza se goza, with or without that pastry shop! But there was some meringue there, it is a shame they went to sleep!
¡Alabao! 😂
😂
I was very surprised by the cathedral, it is very beautiful and the views from the river are magical. What a beautiful landscape.
What a beautiful meeting, no matter how small, it is very beautiful.
The meeting place and the food, how good they look, very nice moment. The place is warm and friendly.
I loved the last two pictures, I couldn't miss them!!!!
Thanks @mipiano for sharing this beautiful experience with us!❤️
The cathedral is huge and beautiful, but I couldn't make a better photo of it. Well, the next day we went again to the bridge, but then the sun messed up haha. The meeting was very nice and was super casual, exactly because we could make plans and also improvise as we felt in the moment. 🙃
The food - we were so lucky to have our tourist and gastronomic Hive guides with us 🤓
Thank you @avdesing, next time if there is a Spanish meetup, you are welcome to join if you want 😉
I love that it was informal, it's more relaxed and enjoyable. The cathedral is beautiful too!
And the food... no words.
I'll give it a try hahaha thanks @mipiano ❤️
I loved this beautiful hive meeting in this beautiful and elegant city, I hope you were able to confirm how many traffic lights there are, and that the debate about the saints and angels of the church ended well
Great to take “Prince Hefrommund XVI” on this trip and have enjoyed the architecture and history of the place
I appreciate that you let us know about this experience.
Have a great dayHow are you dear friend @mipiano good morning
Hive meetups are always fun, and it was confirmed this time too! The traffic lights - there were even in the roundabouts, sometimes two traffic lights inside a roundabout haha. We almost drove through one red light, as we didn't even see there was one traffic light 😁
Wow what a great time you had with this little meetup. The meal looks so elegant and tasty. Oh rats, about getting a better peak of the river down farther, lol. I'm sure there would have been some real nice reflections but not worth worrying what may be at your feet. At some point, Id like to meet some fellow Hivers. Thanks for sharing your experiences:)
Yeah, our feet and safety were in the first place. The photos can wait 😁
Meeting other Hivers is a great experience, for sure. I hope you can meet some Hive people soon, and maybe go fishing together 😇
There you go, I like your thinking 🐠🐟 Maybe camping, fishing, and big great bonfire 🔥 to share stories, hehe

😱
Shakira... Entonces has pisado Tierra Santa 😍
You can mention me as many times as you want, it doesn't bother me at all, and in fact they are sure invitations not to miss wonderful posts like this one. Amiga, I've been in love with almost all the pictures, not forgetting that it was also a meeting from which I expected information, because I think you shared with important people of Hive for me, like @palomap3, besides, I would have been impressed with your eyes too because it was the first thing I noticed when I saw you playing at the Hive Open Mic the first time, Paloma and I are the same team 🤣
Those scores look really cool, I think it's a perfect centrepiece for a marriage between me and @jhoxiris hahahaha. I'm glad to see you enjoying Spain and Hive at the same time, I really admire the passion you have for life, and despite the headaches I see you quite relaxed, I'd like to get to that level 😎 I send you a big hug my dear friend!...
He pisado Tierra Santa entonces hahaha 😂
Well, the mentions probably went crazy today as I edited twice I think hahaha. I was so thin with time, and some typos slipped in 😬
I do enjoy life Jes, and it also means Hive and travels and music, and all. The migraines come and go, the same as the good and bad days 😉 The only thing we are left with is to try to make the best out of them.
Gracias and a hug to you too!! 😇
Yes, we are on the same team!! We named you several times, of course when I informed them about Shakira's stay you were there with us. 😁
I hope the music brings you a day in Spain so I can get to know you. It would be great!
A hug, dear. 🤗
I have really enjoyed this walk, my brother has emigrated to Spain this year and lives in a town on the outskirts of Zaragoza. Now, thanks to this tour, I will be able to talk with him about emblematic places in this city. And even traditional dishes!!! I will tell him to tell me about these things to have another vision. I hope one day I can visit him. I know I could meet Hivers in the city!!! 👏👏👏👏👏🥂
Your brother lives there? Oh, if he joins Hive, he has some Hivers already in Zaragoza, for meetups 👏
And also, if you come let us know 🍻
I hope we will get used to the colder weather 😅
Now that you say it, I'll him make the proposal. Maybe him'll be encouraged to join Hive. I'll definitely let you know if I go!!! A Cuban party will be held!!! 🥂😁

It was a so tiny but very tasty meeting in Zaragoza 😉
Waoo unquestionably HIVE allows us to know different parts of the world from the lens of other people, in this opportunity you have allowed me to know a little bit of this city with wonderful and extraordinary landscapes.
Undoubtedly living this experience can be fascinating to drive for long hours but with the certainty that we will find the desired destination... Enjoy and congratulations...
That is what journeys bring - experience and new landscapes :)) Also tasty, traditional food from the place we visit and of course, meeting people and their traditions 📸
Thank you and I am glad you enjoyed the post 🥳
What a beautiful city Zaragoza!! I love the bus! Very particular! And the pictures, I have no words, they are amazing! The one of the reflections at night is stunning!!
So you had a mini Hive meetup!! That’s absolutely awesome! I can imagine how great it was in that amazing city!
Thanks a lot for sharing this beautiful post!!
Many hybrid and electric buses are in use there, but it's a must, with a city like Zaragoza. Ok, also the traditional ones, but it's a good sign that these changes are happening.
The Hivers we met were very nice and kind, and what a great city tours we got, plus the food 🤤
Wao @mipiano what an emotional and beautiful history of your walk through Zaragoza. Thanks to you I can know and admire the beauty of this city. All the photos are spectacular, I am very glad that you had a lot of fun in that meeting of hivers. A big 🤗
Gracias @mayramalu
More things from Zaragoza will come. We enjoyed the places we saw and tasted, also the little meeting was absolutely worth driving there! 😎
I can say that your long drive at Zaragosa is worthit..Zaragosa has many beautiful building structure and their foods looks like tasty..greetings😊

We don't regret driving there, it was a cool experience 🌞
