From Novi Sad to the Petrovaradin Fortress - it's great to walk in good company

in BuzzParty Meet Hive!2 months ago (edited)

And in the company of no less than three other Hivers. 😃

When I remember that I advised my husband to remind those who promised to come to bring a hat or sun protection because we knew it would be hot... and do you know who didn't bring a hat to protect herself from the sun? Well, me, of course. That was a huge mistake on my part as I collapsed from all that heat and had headaches for the next two days. Having long, dark hair can have this effect, attracting even more heat. However, those who lack hair can have similar problems. Luckily, there is always a solution - you can use a T-shirt to protect your head from the sun. Creative! 💡

Yes, that was quite a smart move - fashion improvisation, but the little stops in cafes were also improvised (and very needed) moments on that day when this little Hive meetup happened.

If you missed the posts of @ph1102 and @bil.prag who already made their part of the work, you can check them here and also here. Those posts also contain some photos of me as I don't have any other photos of myself from that day. (if you can't recognize me - I am the one with the red Hive bag) I was busy taking pictures of these Hive friends, as you will be able to see. For example, here when Ph1102 and @ugochill hugged each other. It was in Zmaj Jovina Street when we met at the meeting point at 10:30 am.

A cup of coffee and water in Masha restaurant came in handy while we waited for our official photographer and fashion improviser designer, @bil.prag.

On that warm day, he had his old friend Mr. Canon with him. If you haven't opened the links I left up there yet, please do so, as he took some excellent photos that are worth checking out. However, his post makes me think: should I post these photos I took? 😂

One thing is certain - I recorded the parts of our meeting that they didn't - the Petrovaradin Fortress. After the first cups of coffee in Masha we walked through Zmaj Jovina Street and Danube Street and passed through the Danube Park.

In no time we found ourselves in front of the Varadin Bridge, which I crossed thousands of times while living here. Before '99 there was a different one... {sigh} which I also crossed thousands of times. That is a great feeling actually to have the River Danube under your feet and it is never boring - if you look to the left you can see Žeželjʼs Bridge:

...and looking to the right, there is the fortress which oversees the river Danube and the city of Novi Sad.

Petrovaradin is lying on the right bank of the river. It has much more history than the newly built city, Novi Sad, probably because of its strategic position. Everyone who lived here built their fortress, starting from the Celts.

From Petrovaradin, we climbed to the fortress. It is easier to write it down than to do it as we did it all on foot. The suffocating heat knocked me out; I didn't feel well after this effort but a cold lemonade and a lot of water in one cafe in the fortress gave me back some energy.

I left the boys (will not tag them again not to spam too much 😆) inside the air-conditioned cafe and went out to see the views and bring some here to Hive.

Oh, I think I missed saying that this little Hive meetup happened last Saturday, the seventeenth of August on the initiative of @ph1102. It was a really nice day which finished later in another town Sremski Karlovci but about that, I will write on another occasion. I hope that next year we can repeat something similar and that more Hivers from Serbia will be able to join. 😇

Sort:

when your bald head burns several times, you usually forget to bring a hat but also don't care about the looks :D it even does not look that bad from the back :D

You look like a pissed-off bodyguard with a gun in your hand... 🤣

i do also have that face for people that don't know me 😂

I didn't make it around sadly, it seems we'll have our Balkans roadtrip sometime next year :)

If you can choose, maybe pick spring or autumn for the visit as this summer was crazy warm there!

Late May seems to be the best option;)

But, but... If we do another meetup next summer, you will not be able to attend it again?! 😃

We'll see :P

What a nice meeting! I love the photo, but yes... it's very hot, hat and water urgently!

There is watch, eyes and horse, plus the fortress, all ideal!!! Beautiful views!💗

Oh, the eyes - it's maybe your relative, the artist 😜 but he put two eyes haha

One from him and one from me hahaha maybe he's related ..... hahahaha

Thanks for sharing the Balkans Hive Meetup story from your point of view! I have to admit that I wasn't aware of some of these sights as I was focused on surviving the heat... 🤣

Balkans Meetup! I didn't know it had this official name 😜

Now you see what I saw when I left the comfort of the cafe shop 😁

I've been to Novi Sad several times. I got artist friends there. At Petrovaradin, you missed all the artists places at the base of the castle?

Here is a album of mine on Flickr, there are many photos of Petrovaradin and the many artists who have studios there.

Hello @thermoplastic

Thank you for stopping by and leaving the link, it is cool! :)
I know there are the artists' ateliers, I have studied there in the fortress but this time we were already hit by that heat so it was a super quick visit around the tower and see the views and back to a bit colder place 😅

Yes.
Good times.

Big hug for all of you.!! :)

A hug for you too and for the girls gang 😜🤗

Haha, at least you had mad a solution to survive on that heat. And what a lovely time you had with fellow hivers. That's so amazing, meeting with hivers then having a walk and bonding moment like this. I'm wondering I too can have that moment with my fellow Hivers in the Philippines. It would be a fun and delightful experienve for sure. And the place you decided to visit is really a beautiful one, there'd a lot to see and explore in there.

My solution was not the best, I just tried to hide from the sun, but the other guy had the idea of using a spare T-shirt to cover his head. That was perfect. I could do that only with my cloth bag 😂 but I carried bottles of water in it. That day I drank litres of water.

In Philippines there are many Hivers, I think. I hope you can attend a meetup or at least meet just a few other fellow Hive friends if you organize a little meeting 😃📸

Wow, this looks like it was really fun. It's great that you guys planned this meet up.

It's always great to meet other Hivers 😃

Great, what a fascinating outing to the wonderful places that revive our emotions.
Something totally healthy.

Glad you liked it 😊

The pictures are great, I had to go check out the other posts as I insisted and I was glad I did.
You all are very good with the camera. Some better than others though, lol.

Thank you, though I don't think these photos of mine are very good 📸

They are actually very good but only dim in comparison to the others.
