Hello my lovely friends!
How are you doing? Has the covid-19 pandemic caused you any problems in your life? We hope that the covid-19 pandemic will be eradicated in the not-too-distant future, allowing us to begin our new journey.
How many celebrations do people in your country have in their lifetime? Everyone in Vietnam will experience the five life celebrations listed below.
- Full-month ceremony
- Celebration of a one-year-old baby's birthday
- Engagement ceremony
- Wedding ceremony
- Funeral
Follow me now to learn about the first ceremony in the Vietnamese people's lives. That's Full-month ceremony.
When will the full-month ceremony be celebrated?
According to Vietnamese folk beliefs, full- month ceremony is celebrated when the child has just turned a month after birth. However, for boys, it is one day back, and for girls, it is two days back. This is an illustrative example
The meaning of full- month ceremony
Babies are born and are based on the kneading of three Fairy and twelve Midwives, according to folk beliefs, so the full-month ceremony is held with many profound meanings. The family expresses gratitude to the Gods, Midwives, and Ancestors for sending the child to them. The image below is three Fairy in the middle and twelve Midwives.
It's time for parents to choose a name for their child.
In the past, people in Vietnam didn't name their children until they were one month old. Because they were afraid of making them difficult to raise. So in this day, parents will pray to the Midwives accept a name after by tossing up two coins.Introduce your kids to everyone
Both the mother's and the baby's bodies are extremely weak in the first few days after birth. Both the mother's and the baby's bodies are extremely weak in the first few days after birth. As a result, both mother and child intend to contact strangers and avoid going out. The end of the first month also marks the end of the most trying period for both mother and baby. This is also the first day the family informs their paternal grandparents, maternal grandparents, relatives, and neighbors about the child, whom few have seen since birth. This functions as social proof of child's existence. They pray to the Gods and Ancestors to protect the health and well-being of their children.
What should we prepare for full- month ceromony?
Different regions will prepare various items. Here are the preparations for my hometown's full-month celebration.
Flowers in a vase
Sweet soup in 12 small bowls
12 sticky rice plates
A boiled rooster
Betel and areca
Fruits
Tea, rice, fermented sticky rice and paper sacrifices
Incense and candle
The items listed above are the fundamentals for preparing for a full-month ceremony.
Rituals in a full-month ceremony
The host reads the names of the 12 midwives, the date of the offering, and the names of the couple and their child respectfully. Then he wishes all the best for the child.
- Pray 12 Midwives accept child's name
The owner tosses two coins onto the plate. If the two sides of coin differ, the name is acceptable.
If the two sides of the coin are the same, you must repeat the process. If all three times are the same, you must choose a new name.
However, this ritual is no longer widely practiced because parents frequently name their child immediately after birth in order to obtain a birth certificate.
- Paper sacrifices are burned.
- Invite everyone to the party so that everyone can share in the family's joy.
The following are the fundamentals of a full-month ceremony in my hometown. Can you tell me more about a ceremony like this one in your hometown?
