Hello Hivers! Definitely, I am referring to someone else's birthday. At one year old it's impossible to hold a camera let alone capture special moments like this. The little birthday boy looked cute in traditional Korean attire known as hanbok. South Koreans usually have colorful tiered rice cakes for birthdays. We were incredibly blessed that day as we stumbled upon a guide without guests at the cultural center. Well, his guests failed to turn up so luck was smiling upon us. It was a beautiful sunny day to walk around the village. Bukchon Hanok Village used to be the de facto living quarters of nobilities and high-ranking officials during the Joseon Dynasty as it is located between Gyeongbuk Palace, Changdeok Palace, and Jongmyo Shrine. This village existed 600 years ago and unlike other cultural villages built especially for tourists, locals still live there today.
Our guide taught us a lot that day. For example, we knew which house belong to a famous writer cum poet, which hanok to effectively conceive a child, standard but stringent construction requirements, and more. However, I won't spoil the fun of discovering things out for yourself. I think it's better to hear information directly from the kind, hardworking and thorough guide working there. I respected him so much that I bowed after thanking him profusely for taking the time to show us around. It was a wonderful day!
