This is true. I met one of them. He’s highly intelligent and invests in agritech that takes a very long term (1,000 year) perspective. I know the image is meant to see this as a problem, but if you haven’t had to be stewards of land for a thousand years, how exactly does this perspective of thinking about taking care of land for thousands of years take hold and become one’s guiding principle?
One of the worst aspects of Communism is how awful land is treated. Just look at the environment damage in the USSR or PRC or Vietnam (where hundreds of people have died from toxic seafood from chemicals dumped just off the coast).
I’m not saying this is the optimal land distribution (it isn’t) but seizing and nationalizing land or flipping farmland to the CCP as we are in the USA is also far from optimal.
