There was a time in my life when I thought that all I'd do with my life is travel around my country and take photos of people, of sceneries, of simple daily living. When I was in college, I bought my first ever DSLR and bought all the basic photography equipment such as tripod, flash, lens to name a few when I was already working. I love posting my works on Facebook back in the day and when my friends thought my shots were decent enough, they started reaching out to me and asked me to be their official photographer for their big day. Yup, I was (for a little while tho) once a wedding photographer. I've photographed around 3-4 weddings mostly of friends and relatives and some other commissioned works on the side while others were purely for fun.

Of all the weddings I photographed, I'd say that my favorite was Denise and Joel's wedding. I photographed their prenup, too. I've known the couple since highschool so although I wasn't too sure if I could pull off whatever they wanted for their wedding, their relentless trust in my "noob skill" convinced me to say yes to their request. One of the scary things about being the main photographer (especially when you don't have a team) during a wedding is that you could mess things up and the newlyweds would end up with photos they wouldn't want to look at ever. There's no replay here, either you get it right or not! That's a lot to take in for a photography hobbyist like me.

I selected a few photos from their wedding and rendered a black and white version for this week's Deranged Photography Contest with the theme Black and White. This is also my first time joining the said contest on Liketu. If you're not familiar with Liketu, check out this post and this one, too for more details.

That's it for today folks! Great day ahead!

They are excellent. Love the atmosphere of the monochrome.

Were they originally colour or is there a setting you can just shoot naturally in black and white? I'm always unsure the best way to get a black and white photo.

But yes, there's a black and white setting in my DSLR if I want to do away with the editing. 😁

After I wrote the comment, I decided to delve into my phone settings and now everything is HD and black and white....now all I have to do is work out how to set it back again 😭

Hi @nathen007, were you able to set it back to normal setting? hehe

They were sort of colored in the raw files then edited them on Lightroom. Not a master myself haha thanks for the compliment @nathen007 😊

Lightroom is way beyond my payscale , I'm just about coping with Snapseed!

I started with Photoscape then moved Snapseed then Lightroom. I love Snapseed, too! 😄

these wedding photos are well shot😊 a good memory for their start of marriage life🌹

My friend was happy to see their wedding photos, so I guess I was able to at least give them decent photos to treasure forever! Have you tried wedding photography too @celeste413?

🙈not yet lol thank you for asking😊

Such a beautiful captures… it doesn’t have to be fully in colour and details.
It’s great to see these like this. Beautiful @patsitivity 😁

Coming from a photographer like you @littlebee4, these are precious compliments. Thank you! 😍 I haven't touched my DSLR for years now actually. I tried bringing it to my Sumilon trip which I also shared here but guess I was so used to the convenience smartphones offer.

Maybe you should play around with it a little bit more.
Mine (DSLR) died on our last trip to Cuba, just before the pandemic. I wanted to replace it but a few moves and the pandemic later… we haven’t really traveled yet. So I still need to get a new one.
Can’t wait. Looking into it what would be next 📸You are so welcome @patsitivity 😁

Yes, the phone cameras are great nowadays… even I think it is perfect for all day life and travel.
But still I miss my DSLR. 😉😁
Have a wonderful day today ☀️💃🏻

love these photographs 💙

Hey @richardjohn! You are back, it's been a while. Thank you! 😁
