I keyed in "friendship quotes" in Google search box, went through a list, and found the above quote and the next thing that happened is that tears came falling in my eyes. Life has been hard at some point but I never felt I went through the hardship alone. I've always been surrounded by this bunch.
The last quarter of 2022 has been a roller-coaster ride for me, You might have noticed that during these months, I've been less active here. My days and nights were filled with work-related activities, and meetings in the other organizations I'm affiliated with. But despite the busy season, I kinda feel that it's my moral obligation to make time for the people that are important to me. 😁
It was Jelo's birthday. Jelo has always been there to cheer me up when my life turned sour. The least I could do for him is to organize his birthday dinner with the rest of our circle. Well, even for regular meet-ups, I'm always the organizer! What was so funny is that I forgot the exact date of his birthday! I scheduled it on the 4th without realizing his birthday's on the 3rd!Lol! Truly my brain's too occupied to remember details. I greeted him a day late, too! 😂
Nonetheless, we gathered in Acacia Steakhouse. The bright side of being the organizer is that you can choose the restaurant. As much as possible we hop from one to another each time we meet. Except for Pukot which is everyone's favorite, I guess. Hehe! The thing is it's feel like we don't belong here; everyone was prim and proper and we were just loud laughing with the slightest joke someone cracks! 🤣 Just glad we weren't reprimanded.
It was a fun night catching up with friends and celebrating Jelo's birthday. He got a free glass of wine from the Steakhouse. The food was great but there was nothing special in it. Well, that's just my opinion. I can cook and I can cook well. My standards are very high!

Haha, you can tell how you should act in a restaurant by how fancily they plate the food. My family and I once got stranded by a technical error in Ecuador, and our airline couldn't book us another flight for 5 days. They put us up in luxury airport hotel, and we pretended to be upset, but never in my life could I afford to stay in a hotel like that, nor eat in the restaurant downstairs. We paid with our food using vouchers, and the kitchen staff knew we were regular folk, so they would often sneak us extra treats.
The cast iron is a friendly site, reminds me of back home in the USA where many countryside people still use these pans, I even brought a few here to Cambodia.
Honestly, I haven't been to a "fancy" restaurant, at least not fancy enough that there are more than 5 cutleries and the food are beautifully plated you wouldn't want to eat them. I wonder how it'd feel to be actually eating in a real fine dining restaurant. Maybe soon!
Sounds crazy to be stranded for another 5 days but if the service is good and free, I might want an extension! 😂

I seldom spend time with my friends due to my hectic schedule that I have. Bonding and spending quality time with friends make friendship relationships healthier.

Spending time my friends is the best moment for me. Sometimes i feel like i am more connected to my friends than i am to my own families and blood relatives. It is crazy.
I am glad I am also meeting my barkada later this afternoon. I may have been away for a year but Im catching up this year. This time balay balay nalang me kay naa nay mga anak. 🤣 We identify ourselves as “teamtapok”. We were highschool batchmates. But, what is funny is that we were not really (a circle) during high school. 18 years as teamtapok 😂. I also do not memorize their birthdays 😂
As a person who works in the restaurant industry I do thing everyone belongs in any restaurant regardless how they dress, look or act. As long as you pay for the food and service you are good. Those places who have sort of "standard" or "dress code" really turns me off and its a problem in our society. Have fun, you deserve and need it! The world is too serious already.
