What was the most embarrasing situation you found yourself trapped in?
I've had countless embarrasing moments such as slipping on my way back to my seat after delivering a speech in a Division-wide Oratorical contest, having my hair dyed with close to solid gold color and hiding from my college crush in the ladies wash room.
No one prepared me for this recent humiliating event. It was Division I's Speech contest. Area Directors from Provinces outside of Cebu joined in the in person Division Speech Contest in Cebu. To celebrate the success of our event, our stunning Division Director, Director Delia, arranged an intimate dinner in one of the restaurants in Cebu Yatch Club.
While choosing and waiting for the serving of the food, we were entertained by Area Director(AD) Nino's magic tricks. It wasn't my first time socializing with AD Nino; I met him once in another Toastmaster's Event in 2021. Aside from endulging ourselves with his crazy and unpredictable magic tricks, we were also busy catching up with news and updates from each of our Areas. Director Delia was keen to listen to all our updates even concerns we gathered from our members.
The food came in and we were happy to eat a variety of Cebu's best dishes when an outburst of ladies and gentlemen gathered around our table and started singing their hearts out as they enthusiatically sang the Happy Birthday Song. I tried to figure out whose birthday it was and found out everything was a prank AD Nino planted. They handed over to me a piece of decorated chocolate cake, too pretty to eat. I was in shock and kept mouthing to AD Nino and the rest "But it's not my birthday!" I giggled and tried to hide the embarrassment within. I could imagine my face turning red in utter shame and shock. Thankfully, they finished the song, greeted me with glee and disappeared.
We laughed out loud! I shared the cake with them, too! The playful AD Nino simply said "That's how you get a cake for free!" I wouldn't dare doing this elsewhere; once is enough😅
