The wind situation can change in seconds

For me one of the most interesting part about sailing is just the fact that the wind will take you towards places and nothing else is needed. It gives you so many ideas on how people used to explore the world and were able to end up so far away.

The most beautiful thing is you ask me? The silence and everything that comes with it. The only thing to worry about is what the wind will do and where you want to go. And here in Greece with so many options the choices seem endless.

The interesting stuff starts to happen when clouds are forming over land and those start passing by. The wind will pick up to fuel the clouds with extra moist, and then when the cloud is passing and it isn't loaded with thunder and lightning, the wind will often die here.

In sailing that means the situations are getting extremer and extremer ( from my beginners perspective) and reefs have to be made. Until all of a sudden...it just stops and all wind is gone.

The seas are in general not bouncy at all until you are crossing these open waters, then the ocean waves come into play as well. For me this bouncing was a new factor. One that also takes away the stability from the sails with every wave and again I had the idea I was doing all kinds of stuff wrong. But this is how it works. The weather is bouncy, that means the waves are bouncy and thst means the boat is bouncy. Learning to adjust into all of this.

The dinghy is the most loyal follower in this whole trip. Wherever I go, the buddy dinghy follows just catching the waves at the same time like a true warrior.

The ocean and the wind....it brings you back to the start again. How to travel with the elements.
