The combination of snow and clear blue skies feels like somethng magical. Especially when the snow has just fallen overnight and is still powdery and then the sky decides to open op. That is really when the magic starts to happen. These were exactly the circumstances that I ran into. I ran into overcast and falling snow when I was hiking up the mountain the day before as you can see in this post and later on in the day the clouds just disappeared.

I was stunned by the views that I found there. Dark and light were chasing each other and every tree had a small whish and touch of some goodness on there. I love to get a bit closer towards the trees and stare a bit on how the snow is covering all of the pine leaves on there. You see these little patterns and it is almost a work of art.

The sound was still silent as the snow was still stealing all of the echoes of the valley. But what you could hear were some of the crisps in the trees as it was getting a better warmer because of the sun. The powdery snow turned into a bit more densed and watery snow until eventually it would fall out of the tree as a drip.

That was all for later. This was in the morning when I was so surprised to see all of this beauty just hanging around there. It always feels funny how people tend to ignore these fantastic little moment of nature just hanging all around us. The best thing for all, these views are all for free if you are willing to take some effort and head there and take the time to take a look around. I often take them for granted as well, that's what we do.

But when you see sights like these... Don't you also just want to run around and steal some snow from the trees and make a snowballs out of it to toss in someones neck? This stuff makes you feel like a kid again, especially when the skies are bright and it feels like winter is finally giving in a bit more to the strength of the upcoming sun.

I love the mountains. Also when they are green and lush but even more when they are covered with a white blanket. We don't get these in flatland the Netherlands, so when there is a chance to head out into the mountains somewhere else...I am the first one to head on up.

Lovely sights, especially when you dare to look a little bit more close.

Amazing shots. What camera do you use?

I used the good ol' Samsung S22 with broken wideangle camera hahaha.
And some fumbeling in the normal phone editor app in there as well.. That's it! Nothing flashy!

Great results.

cool place

Yeah..cool snowy mountains indeed

Where we live in Durban, South Africa, we don't get snow. So I am not used to snow and I find it amazing! I love admiring the photos I see such as these that you have shared with us.

This is so true! Even with nature in general (without snow), people tend to ignore/miss what is right under their noses. As you say, if we just slow down a bit and take the time to look around, we will realize how much we are missing out on. And the best part as you say, it's all free!

I guess the same is for you in SA as well. Looking as an outsider that is one of the most beautiful countries I have ever visited, but on the daily...It is 'just the place where you live'

Sometimes we need to step outside that thought for a bit to find these random things

Absolutely true!

I remember loving it when the snow sticks to the trees. However I must say I am enjoying walking Betty without having to wear bibs, mittens, facemask and 2 coats. For us, winter today was rainy and 66F with the palm trees blowing in the windy thunderstorm. Nice pics!

A rainy 66 doesnt sounds like a winner either? :D

Well, this mountain weather of -5 celsius and sun I would prefer over anything. (fair enough not anything haha) because the Dutch weather is a staggering +1 and fog which is just the most boring ever.

But I get you. Currently walking doggo is a situation of first packing yourself up with anything that feels warm before even setting a foot outside. I'd then prefer that 66 any day :)
