December in El Salvador is the coolest month of the year. It has been very windy, every single day in December, which is quite nice because it is still hot during day time so the wind makes it just perfect.

The mornings and evenings can be pretty cool, which also is good, because there is no need for air conditioner or fans.

We actually close the windows and doors around 6 pm every evening, because the wind makes it pretty cold.

We use sweaters or blankets in the evening and we sleep with extra blankets.

In the mountains, the weather can be pretty cold. People use fireplaces and wear jackets, pretty warm jackets.

December is also the laudest month of the year, because the schools are out for vacation and of course we have Christmas.

So the whole December is pretty much a big holiday month, where there are a lot of parties, lots of dancing, fireworks and people vacationing by visiting different places with their families, like the beaches etc.

Throughout December and some of January, you hear a lot of fireworks, especially during Christmas and New Year where it actually sounds like a war zone.

So if you are not used to a lot of noise or don't like noise, then December is probably not a good month to visit El Salvador.

But if you like the not so hot weather and enjoy going out and dancing, then December is the perfect month to visit.

Christmas in El Salvador is all about family, food and fireworks. The main Christmas foods are "pan con pollo", which is big french bun filled with freshly cooked chicken or turkey, some watercress, cabbage, radishes, and fresh sauce on top of it. It is very delicious.

The second Christmas dish is "Tamales", which is pretty much corn flour made into masa, with chicken or pork pieces with some vegetables inside and it's wrapped in a banana leaf. It's a big process to make tamales including 2 hours of cooking it.

Hope you enjoyed my post and wish you all a wonderful and happy holidays.
