Hace poco escribí un post lleno de dudas. Estaba en ese punto incómodo donde no sabía si volver a repetir la keratina o si, de una vez y por todas, debía retomar mi cabello rizado. Hoy vuelvo a escribir, pero desde otro lugar: con seguridad, con amor propio y con una decisión definitiva. Amo más que nunca el cabello con el que nací, mis rizos, mis formas naturales, mi esencia.
Desde aquel momento de indecisión, he estado informándome muchísimo. He leído, he preguntado, he observado otros procesos y, sobre todo, he aprendido a escuchar mi cabello. Porque cuidar el cabello rizado no es solo querer que se vea bonito y definido, es querer que esté sano. Y aunque muchas personas no lo crean, el cabello rizado es costoso de mantener. No siempre por lujo, sino porque necesita constancia, productos adecuados y mucho amor.
Por ahora he ido poco a poco, según mis posibilidades. Logré comprar la mascarilla Skala Divino Potão, y tengo que decir que ha sido una gran aliada en este proceso de recuperación después de una keratina fallida. Aunque se promociona principalmente para cabellos tipo afro, funciona maravillosamente bien en otros tipos de rizos. Aporta hidratación, suavidad y ayuda a devolverle vida al cabello maltratado. Además, algo que me encanta es que también puede usarse como crema peinadora sin enjuague, lo cual la hace aún más práctica.
Ya tenía un cepillo que sirve para definir los rizos y aquí debo confesar algo: en mi proceso de aprendizaje me sorprendió muchísimo descubrir que el cabello rizado se cepilla para definir. Yo nunca me había atrevido a hacerlo. Siempre pensé que cepillo y rizos no podían ir de la mano, pero estaba muy equivocada. Más adelante, en otro post, les compartiré paso a paso mi proceso curly.
Para quienes no lo saben, el método curly es una forma de cuidar el cabello rizado respetando su estructura natural, evitando ingredientes agresivos y usando técnicas que favorecen la hidratación y la definición. No es una regla estricta, sino un camino de aprendizaje y adaptación.
Y algo que definitivamente no podía faltar: el gorro de satén. Este pequeño detalle hace una gran diferencia. Sirve para proteger el cabello mientras dormimos, evitando el frizz, la resequedad y la rotura que provocan las fundas de algodón. Si puedes acompañarlo con una funda de almohada de satén, muchísimo mejor.
Otros productos tendrán que esperar un poco, pero por ahora me va bien. He aprendido incluso a improvisar, como cuando hice un atomizador para agua reutilizando un pomo de colonia. El cabello rizado necesita hidratación diaria con agua porque su forma en espiral dificulta que los aceites naturales del cuero cabelludo lleguen a las puntas, por eso tiende a resecarse más rápido.
Hoy miro mi cabello y siento orgullo. Amo cómo está sanando, cómo va recuperando su forma, su fuerza y su identidad.

Not long ago, I wrote a post full of doubts. I was at that uncomfortable point where I didn’t know whether to repeat the keratin treatment again or finally return to my natural curly hair. Today I’m writing again, but from a different place: with confidence, self-love, and a definitive decision. I love more than ever the hair I was born with—my curls, my natural shapes, my essence.
Since that moment of uncertainty, I’ve been educating myself a lot. I’ve read, I’ve asked questions, I’ve observed other journeys, and above all, I’ve learned to listen to my hair. Because caring for curly hair is not just about making it look pretty and defined, it’s about keeping it healthy.
And although many people don’t believe it, curly hair is expensive to maintain—not because of luxury, but because it requires consistency, the right products, and a lot of love.
For now, I’ve been taking things step by step, according to my possibilities. I managed to buy the Skala Divino Potão mask, and I have to say it has been a great ally in this recovery process after a failed keratin treatment. Although it is mainly marketed for afro-type hair, it works wonderfully well on other curl types. It provides hydration, softness, and helps bring life back to damaged hair. Plus, something I really love is that it can also be used as a leave-in styling cream, which makes it even more practical.
I already had a brush that helps define curls, and here I must confess something: during my learning process, I was very surprised to discover that curly hair is brushed to define it. I had never dared to do that. I always thought brushes and curls could never go together, but I was very wrong. In another post, I’ll share my curly routine step by step.
For those who don’t know, the curly method is a way of caring for curly hair while respecting its natural structure, avoiding harsh ingredients, and using techniques that promote hydration and definition. It’s not a strict set of rules, but rather a journey of learning and adaptation.
And something that definitely couldn’t be missing: the satin bonnet. This small detail makes a huge difference. It helps protect the hair while we sleep, preventing frizz, dryness, and breakage caused by cotton pillowcases. If you can pair it with a satin pillowcase, even better.
Other products will have to wait a bit, but for now, I’m doing well. I’ve even learned to improvise—like making a water spray bottle by reusing a cologne bottle. Curly hair needs daily hydration with water because its spiral shape makes it harder for the scalp’s natural oils to travel down to the ends, which is why it tends to dry out faster.
Today I look at my hair and feel proud. I love how it’s healing, how it’s slowly recovering its shape, strength, and identity.
