Sharing a little bit of the history of our first destination:
According to the locals, to talk about Las Terrazas in Artemisa, Cuba, we must go back to the late 1960s when the area seemed barren. The exploitation of copper mines, the excessive planting of coffee (the area had around 50 coffee plantations), and logging accelerated the deforestation process.

When Sierra del Rosario was declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, an intense project began to restore the lost flora and fauna in the area. Millions of trees were planted, terraces were dug for cultivation, and the town was built following the ecological guidelines set by UNESCO.

The result: a natural paradise where the land is cared for as if it were a human being. Where the locals are as sweet as the coffee they grow and prepare. A place that is definitely worth visiting.

If you are a nature lover, the next post is for you.
If you enjoy spending a relaxing day and changing your surroundings from time to time, the next post is for you.
