Thanks. I prefer to have all engagement on the platform (on chain) as that has the potential to encourage further networking from other community members. Discord isn't very transparent and might exclude other members of the community from the discussions.
I think it will be appropriate at some point, perhaps soon. But not right now.
@elmarlin Yes I agree as you say, but I think a great platform like this has a personal discord like any other platform. I voluntarily try to give the best for my posts for LIKETU, and voluntarily I am also interested in becoming a moderator on Liketu, now and even someday, greetings from Indonesia.
If people spend time on discord engaging.. that's engagement that could be happening on the site - something we prefer, especially at this early stage.
We don't (yet) need moderators. In-fact, I was going to write quite extensively about it at some point because I think people have been mis-understanding the purpose of Liketu. This is our fault because we began with a community, to which all the posts are posted to, but this is not where we will ultimately be in the very near future.
We can fight abuse through a variety of means, one of which is just not showing demerit posts / pictures on our front-end. We have already had to step in several times for this. In terms of reward pool abuse, we believe that we vote very conservatively and through getting to know the community members intimately, whilst upholding standards for getting rewarded, we are able to minimise that front as well.
When people post to other communities in the near future, then how we deal with reward pool abuse falls even further out of our jurisdiction. This is not to say we don't treat abuse very seriously, but it is a community effort and not ours alone.
Liketu hasn't implemented any rules yet, people are free to share and post all kinds of things here, I think it's pretty easy, because there isn't a specific rule for Liketu, but I really enjoy the development of the Liketu community at the moment.
The only kinds of rules which matter are:
I have nothing against the posting of everything else, particularly if the poster chooses to decline rewards for it. This is the DEFAULT option we have set for posts and so by extension, by having it NOT on the default option, you are explicitly saying that you want to monetize the content.
At this point, the general community consensus on what is monetized, how much etc. overrides. As a larger stakeholder of HIVE, I also wish to uphold these community standards as I believe very strongly in not a single entity (such as Liketu) defining the rules, but rather, all it's participants. (Rules but no rulers)
Edit*
I should also add, that we are operating as a community right now because it was easier for us to incubate the initial user base this way, but our intention in the very near future is to allow users to post to every community on HIVE.
We are a front-end with a tuned experience for picture based posts. These posts can span any number of themes and thus better belong in all the established communities where interests are more closely aligned.
We prefer to use our power to encourage the use of the liketu website, irrespective of what community the user chooses to post to.
Very appropriate, especially to be aware of plagiarism, stealing other people's copyrights and violent content as well. Here I am as a macro photographer, all work is my personal property, and just trying to make this blockchain platform clean. 🙂
If there are any edge cases where I'm unsure then I will most likely just overlook the post for curation and hand out a non-financialised "like" on liketu.com - That's what they're designed for.. the vanilla experience.
I spend a lot of time communicating with creators because for me I feel that it is the responsibility of the curator to not just curate off of face value of the post, but the context, and also to inspire further engagement on the post. Without which, I don't believe any of the posts I vote for (and to be honest most of the other posts on Hive) are worth anything near what they are being rewarded.
It may take time and process to find the starting point, but gradually you will also master the content of user posts. And one more thing, I'm happy, to be liketu curator, if at any time, And thank you for your time. 🙏
