For those that didn’t hear:

For the first time in decades, the US team took first place at the International Math Olympiad(!)

(Edit: according to Wikipedia, the US team has also won in the 21st century in years 2018, 2016, and 2015)

The IMO brings together some of the very brightest high school students in the world in a challenge to solve complex mathematical problems that require enormous creativity.
