We have been cleaning the surroundings of the house for a few days now and I found a Wolf spider nest.
We try not to interfere in their home so we clean in other places. I decided to make some videos from where I have extracted the photos that you can see today.
It is a female and she is carrying her egg sac. I have not disturbed her, they are usually docile but at this stage they defend their future offspring a lot. The only problem is that in this area there are many tarantula hunting wasps so if it disappears you already know what the reason is. That is life in nature and I try not to intervene.
These spiders do not make webs as they build small caves that extend horizontally within the ground. They leave traces of webs only inside where any insect that wants to enter will be immobilized, this being their main source of food.
This is another species that is easier to see in the rainy season, as there are a large number of insects.
I love going out into the yard and after looking carefully for a while, coming across some beautiful little animal. It's just fantastic. Plus it adheres to our permaculture principles.

These are great pictures, was she alive or dead?
What interesting photos. I admit that if I see something like this in my yard I faint🤭
