Huerta Medicinal

El día de hoy estuvimos en un lugar muy especial, fuimos a conocer el huerto medicinal que mi padre y un amigo han estado trabajando desde hace algunos meses. Quizás al ver la tierra amarilla y con piedras, se puede entender que sería difícil creer que este proyecto diera frutos, pero pese a todos los pronósticos y con los pensamientos positivos lograron diseñar, cultivar y cuidar un pequeño huerto que ya está dando aportes a quienes lo necesitan.

Detrás de este proyecto hay una historia de amistad y de colaboración entre vecinos, que con cariño donaron una variedad de plantas medicinales, con la firme creencia que iban a dar sus frutos.

Este trabajo no fue nada fácil, pues inició con la limpieza del espacio el cual se encontraba lleno de arbustos y monte, además de la alta proliferación de mosquitos, pero nada de esto detuvo a estos dos amigos jubilados, que decidieron invertir su tiempo en esta huerta medicinal con la idea de poder ofrecer ayuda a otros. Pasado el tiempo lograron ver sus primeras cosechas de las cuales comparten y ofrecen una explicación de cómo se pueden usar estas plantas, aquienes los visitan, lo que le suma a esta idea de proyecto un plus diferente.

En estos días que mi hermano vino de visita aprovechamos juntos, para ir a conocer esta huerta, ya que, particularmente yo tampoco la conocía, pues nació en el tiempo que yo me encontraba fuera del país, pero siempre estuve atenta a todo su avance.

Mi padre siempre ha sido mi ejemplo de que cuando se desea algo se puede lograr con dedicación y mente positiva, por ello, no tenía dudas de que lograría hacer germinar esa tierra. Actualmente está pensando en cómo hacer para llevar el agua hasta la siembra, porque por ahora, lo hacen llevando envases de botellas de refresco y el sistema de goteo no les ha funcionado, pero siguen investigando y sobretodo aprendiendo. Porque pese a sus 76 años, mi padre dice nunca se deja de aprender, como una forma de mantener a la mente despierta y yo comparto esa opinión.

En estas fotos pueden observar algunas de las plantas que han germinado, y están identificadas. Entre las plantas tienen para tratar la tos, la gripe, bajar el azuacr en sangre, aliviar malestares estomacales y pronto tendrán ajíes para cocinar. También pueden apreciar a una garza que los visita a diario, como un gran regalo de la naturaleza.

Antes de culminar esta publicación deseo felicitar a estos dos amigos que con dedicación y cariño, lograron lo que se propusieron, pero además inspiran a otros en la idea de que no hay edad para emprender nuevos proyectos, si se tiene voluntad.

Medicinal Garden

Today we were in a very special place, we went to see the medicinal garden that my father and a friend have been working for a few months. Perhaps when you see the yellow earth with stones, you can understand that it would be difficult to believe that this project would bear fruit, but despite all the forecasts and with positive thoughts they managed to design, cultivate and care for a small garden that is already giving contributions to those who they need it.

Behind this project there is a story of friendship and collaboration between neighbors, who lovingly donated a variety of medicinal plants, with the firm belief that they would bear fruit.

This work was not easy at all, since it began with cleaning the space which was full of bushes and bushes, in addition to the high proliferation of mosquitoes, but none of this stopped these two retired friends, who decided to invest their time in this medicinal garden with the idea of being able to offer help to others. As time passed, they were able to see their first harvests, which they share and offer an explanation of how these plants can be used to those who visit them, which adds a different plus to this project idea.

In these days that my brother came to visit, we took the opportunity together to go see this orchard, since I didn't particularly know it either, since it was born at the time I was out of the country, but I was always attentive to all its progress.

My father has always been my example that when you want something, you can achieve it with dedication and a positive mind, therefore, he had no doubt that he would be able to make that land germinate. He is currently thinking about how to carry the water to the planting, because for now, they do it by carrying soda bottle containers and the drip system has not worked for them, but they continue to investigate and, above all, learn. Because despite his 76 years, my father says he never stops learning, as a way of keeping his mind awake and I share that opinion.

In these photos you can see some of the plants that have germinated, and are identified. Among the plants they have to treat coughs, flu, lower blood sugar, relieve stomach discomfort and soon they will have chili peppers to cook with. They can also appreciate a heron that visits them daily, like a great gift from nature.

Before concluding this publication, I would like to congratulate these two friends who, with dedication and affection, achieved what they set out to do, but also inspire others with the idea that there is no age to undertake new projects, if you have the will.
